I don't know about you, but when I'm painting, I periodically look down at the tray to see how much is left.

I love how the characters communicate their feelings through food on this show. Did you notice that Castle brings Beckett coffee almost every morning? And in Tick, Tick, Tick... and Boom! they take turns making each other breakfast. So I interpret this scene as Castle saying ILU BECKETT AND I'M SORRY BB
