There's a reason flowers are cliche.

There is? [frowns a bit] But... I like flowers. Gettin' 'em or givin' 'em. Why d'ye think they're cliche?

*grins* That's why. Everyone likes flowers. Everyone likes receiving flowers. The part they don't mention is that "cliche" is often just another word for "popular."

Oh! Well, in that case. [XD!] Aye. Popular; I can see why. Especially roses, but daisies are nice, too.

I've always liked daisies. Something particularly young and carefree about them. *laughs* It's good to know what kind of flowers to get you should the need arise, Scotty.

Because they're far too overused?

And because they work. Let me ask you this, if you were a girl wouldn't you like something that's pretty and smells nice? Not to mention there's the nurturing aspect to it.

But that's assuming that the woman you get them for is nurturing. I know the smells and the attractiveness are nice, which is why I prefer to give flowers if I give a gift, but if you give them to the wrong type of girl, it's useless.

But that's why you can't just give flowers for the sake of giving flowers. Any gift, regardless of who it's for, requires some thought behind it.

For example, I probably won't be giving you roses any time soon.

Not if they're the right ones.

That's my point. *chuckles* The success of giving flowers as a gift has everything to do with execution. Find the right color, the right scent, and put in the proper amount of thought and your gift has become meaningful. Giving flowers for the sake of giving flowers will only prove that there was no thought put into it.

[ gaila nods vigorously. ] That I agree with. Even if the first time I got a rose I was pretty excited.

And would I be wrong to guess that much of this excitement had to do with who gave you this rose?

((I hope I can assume we're in their verse? :D))

*grins* I don't know, you tell me. How's that flower of yours doing?

*beams up at her* I'm happy to hear it. Good to know I gave her a good home, though I don't think there was ever any doubt.

I hope we're still on for dinner.
