"One man cannot change the future." "But one man can summon the present!"

Man, life is interesting.
Last Friday, Alanna cam up to me and said, "So, you know this isn't working, right?" And, I said, "Yeah, I know." We have parted amicably, and I'm single again. The spark just fizzled out of our relationship and there was nothing between us anymore. It was a mutual breakup.
I definitely had a picker-upper that night. Katy's birthday party was after school, but I had to mow, weed-eat, and sweep the front yard before I could go. Wynn wanted to take me so I could give him directions, so he came over while I was still mowing and crashed on my couch until I was almost done. He did most of the sweeping for me, to which I am grateful, and I showered and we headed out. Katy, Amy, Anna, Rhea, Kim Ngo, Carlos, Long, and several other people I don't know were already there when Wynn and I arrived. We watched some crazy cartoon called Avatar, which Amy and Katy absolutely rave about, and ate Vietnamese food. SO FREAKING GOOD!!!!
I called Ben to give him directions, but he showed up pretty soon after without my help. Then, the girls plugged in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and I was subjugated to the most chick-flicky movie I have seen to date. It was hilarious. After the movie, most everyone left except for Amy, Katy, Rhea, Anna, Wynn, and me. We went upstairs and talked for a while and I told everyone about me and Alanna. Then, the girls gathered blankets for their sleepover and Wynn and I sat about and we all watched a good portion of X-Men before I had to leave around midnight. It was an awesome time. There was cake with blue icing and a giant pair of blue heart sunglasses.
Saturday, I woke up late, but still had elbow room and managed to get to the school on time. The rehearsal went peachy and we rolled out. I ate lunch at Wendy's with Jenna, Michael, Adriana, Castles, and Ramsey. A mottley crew, to be sure. We rolled out to TSU, and it was on. Drumlines everywhere! The atmosphere was just as electric as always. Downside=Drew vs. Skyla with Ben and I occassionally jumping in the middle. Those two need to hush up and get married.
We waited around for the longest time before the performance, during which time I contemplated the meaning of life. Suddenly, we were in the stadium! Ben and I did our handshake and we rocked! Until the end of the opener. The entire drumline must turn around for the ballad, and we all hesitated for a split second as we saw three downed flats. It looked like a bomb had gone off. Behind the one standing flat, Drew and Skyla started taking off their drums, saying, "We have to put them back up!" Ben and I were whisper-shouting "NO!" Picking them up could have been the worst thing ever. We continued with the show like nothing had happened and consequently had the best show ever. I was very upset afterwards, but we got second.
I talked to Alanna briefly at the competition and told her I wanted to be friends. She agreed. =)
When we got back to Austin, Ben, Josh, Amy, Katy and I went to Cheddar's for dinner. Amy and Katy surprised us with a victory ice cream sundae for five, and it was wonderful.
Sunday, my entire maternal side of the family went to church and then out to eat. It was pretty damn fun.
I now face life as a single man.
