Pay the previous entry no mind. My computer has a learning disability.
Yesterday was pretty groovy. My dad brought me home around ten in the morning and I felt like I had been air-lifted into a war zone. My mom was in full anal-psycho-supermom mode. The turkey was in the oven and she was about to start the gravy. The colonel order me to peel the potatoes. I went below into the galley to do just that.
After I had peeled ten potatoes (most were very small), she had me chop them up while she fluttered around like a drunk moth in a football stadium. She pulled the turkey out and basted it several times, and reminded me once where the fire extinguisher was.
She had never made a turkey before.
I boiled the potatoes, then drained them. She went to work on the gravy while I went to work on the mashing. I've never liked mashed potatoes, but I was determined to try my own. So, I seasoned them to my specifications. That's what I love about cooking: seasoning. I added salt, pepper, garlic salt, and basil to the mixture, along with extra butter. Good smelling stuff.
Finally, we were done. The turkey was done, the gravy was done, the mashed potatoes were done, and the rolls would have to be done once we got there. We packed everything up, got ourselves looking pretty, loaded the car, and were off. We stopped once for gas en route.
Once we got there, I realized we had forgotten the pumpkin pie Alanna and I had made, so my grandmother drove me back and I picked it up.
Then, it was meal time. My grandparents, aunt, uncle, mom, and I all sat down to a massive meal. We ate and stuffed ourselves silly on turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, brocolli, and cajun-style green bean casserole (cajun-style because my aunt had burned it slightly).
After dessert of pumpkin pie, regular and sugar-free for my grandfather, I felt very fat. My uncle, grandfather, and I sat down for the Chicago-Dallas game, while my mom, grandmother, and aunt distributed the food evenly amongst us.
All in all, the meal was a resounding success. My mom and I drove home afterwards, then decided we had earned a treat. We hopped in the car and caught a 6:30 showing of National Treasure. It was pretty good, guys. I recommend it. After that, it was only nine o'clock, so I treated Mom to Harry Potter on DVD. We were up until eleven thirty with British people.
Today shall be a lazy day. I'm still in my pajamas.
