Began playing Summon Night on the GBA. I'm enjoying this game a lot more than I initially thought I would upon hearing it was an action-RPG rather than a more traditional RPG with turn-based combat.
On a whim, I picked the female protagonist as my character. And I've been picking up on what seemed, at first, an odd lesbian subtext, such as the main character thinking or commenting about how the other girls look cute/beautiful, or one of the supposedly male characters turning out to be a tomboyish girl. Though I'm sure it's pretty much just a cultural thing. It is a Japanese game.
At the end of each "day," the character gets to decide who to hang around with for that evening, and gets an appropriate cutscene. I'm not sure how this affects the game at all. But it does develop the characters and I welcome that. OTOH, you could easily end up only watching the cutscene with a single character if you pick to hang around with that character each time.
