Put a shine on this place when I was young.
Feels hypocritical to say this as a member of a decidedly non-riotous population at the moment* but when it comes to meaningful window-smashing, I feel like those young Londoners and out-of-town Britons weighing stones and Molotov cocktails in their hands might want to take a page out of the Arab Spring book. Not without violence, sure. But a biteen less counter-productive and cut-off-the-nose-to-spite-the-face-ish.
*N.B. If, in a few years, I emerge into the workforce with a quarter million in student-loan debt as expected and still no job prospects, I'm not sure how unlikely I'd be to break a window. Just sayin'.
