Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize. There's been much speculation as to whether or not he merits the prize based on what he has accomplished versus what his ultimate goals are. I'd comment at length about my own views of that, except for the fact that I can't get past how freaking COOL the whole thing is. Heck of a way to bounce back from the whole Olympics thing.
NBC cop drama Southland gets the ax, further irking the Creatives. A very, very disappointing move on the network's part. Eliminating the 10 'o clock drama slot, I guess, was the beginning of the end for quality television in that airspace. Although it could be argued that the cancellation of Kings earlier might be a better starting point. Nonetheless, it'll probably only get worse from here.
And The Guardian (co.uk) has a neat piece on the institutionalization of crime in Iraq. Anybody who watched what happened to the Balkans should see no surprises whatsoever here. This process is exactly what I talked about in my thesis actually. Although this is an instance in which I take no joy in being right.
