Title: The Chameleon Woman
Word Count: 3,255
Rating: PG-13? (I've never done these rating things before...)
Warnings: (Deliberate) political incorrectness galore in the prologue, including blatant and offensive racism (see note at end.)
Summary: A prologue and preliminary first chapter, in which Rosie Deacon, a.k.a. the Chameleon Woman is introduced through her stage performance in a small traveling carnival. Some back story, then her first paycheck - which comes up a little short.
Critique Type: Civil but constructive. I'm 100% sure this will be rewritten and fact-checked, so keep it relatively general - no need to be picky about typos yet. What works? What doesn't? ... Also, do I ever clarify that it's 1931? EDIT: Ignore my intro post in terms of plot, characterization, etc.
