The sequel of Captain America was better than expected, although not necessarily due to the hero. Perhaps, however, because of the other main character: the Winter Soldier. And the side-kick.
Don't get me wrong, I am not very familiar with the comics so I can't really judge this film from that point of view. I've never been a big fan of Captain America, too, or the other boring Shield-characters (meaning everybody but Iron Man and Thor, of course).
So the Captain once more talked big, threw around his shield and even almost valiantly died in rescuing the the good people. Yes, I thing that shield is a bit silly. Black Widow was there, too, but didn't do much interesting stuff either, as usual. There was a new side-kick, however, not a big role, but he was funny AND had a cool gadget (mechanic wings). And the Winter Soldier was just plain cool - even if he usually looked rather stoically bordering to a bit brainless :)
The story itself didn't hold many surprises, but one hardly expects something like that from a comic book adaptation. On the other hand, it wasn't boring either. Good action and fun and a bit drama took their turns at a reasonable pace.
In that kind of film the special effects are almost as essential as the plot and the characters, and they certainly fulfilled my expectations.
One thing I really liked was that the bad guy was less silly than in the first Captain America movie. And even Nick Fury was more likeable.
I don't really need another sequel of the Captain, but if it comes I hope the Winter Soldier and the side-kick with his mechanical wings are part of it, too.
