Cinema-Report #4 - Homefront

Yay, it's action time again! Even better, it's Jason Statham time. And to make things a bit interesting, he tries a slightly different genre and it turned out a success (not like when he did that awful fantasy film).

In homefront, he isn't just a cool bloke who beats up the bad guys single-handedly in a handsome way with some funny lines as decoration. Jason Statham has joined Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler and Hugh Jackman in the ranks of the protective / avenging father - and he did well.
I guess, he really is at the age and has learned the acting skills to portrait the father of a ten year old girl (and can even look grave enough now and then to make him a believable widower). It probably helps that his job is an undercover anti-drug specialist - who knows pretty well how to beat up the bad guys. I liked the idea that he taught his daughter how to defend herself from annoying schoolmates - and that they got into trouble for it.
I definitely wouldn't want to live in that kind of backwater American small-town, where it's still usual to start a feud when somebody when there's a little argument. But of course the hero had double bad luck, because the local drug-cook discovers his police-past and feels both personally offended and sees an unique opportunity, not to mention that he's crazy.

So, that was an entertaining action-movie with some nice bits of story. I wouldn't mind if he did more of that sort.
