“I’m not bein’ funny, Luv, but Sophia’s spending an awful lot of time with Dan lately, dontcha think?”
“Now, Allan, it’s only natural-they’re young and in love. And they are to be married soon, after all,” Deirdre admonished calmly.
The two children had grown up together, and Allan had begun to suspect that their lifelong friendship had turned into something more long before they had announced their plans to marry.
Allan glowered at his wife of twenty years, moving quickly toward the door to go and find his eldest daughter, Sophia. He would explain to Djaq and Will later why Djaq would have to set their oldest boys’ legs. Allan found his way blocked by the small, but tough form of his wife, who reached up to twine her fingers in his hair. Smiling seductively, she leaned up to place a gentle kiss on his lips, moving her body against his. Allan responded, holding the back of her head while he deepened the kiss, his other arm snaking around her lean waist to pull her even closer to him. Their breathing became ragged, and Allan began to have visions of Deirdre’s lithe form writhing underneath him, her legs opening for him as he plunged into her again and again. Suddenly, Deirdre’s face was replaced with Sophia’s and his own with Dan’s-swearing viciously, he pulled away, pushing Deirdre from his path at the same time.
“If he’s touched her, I’ll castrate the little bugger!” he growled as he headed out the door. Deirdre leaned against the wall, smiling. For such a happy-go-lucky man, Allan was extremely protective of his little girl; she feared for Dan’s welfare when Allan found out that the two had to get married. Laughing to herself, Deirdre followed her husband out of their house.
