Well, I've had fish and birds as a kid, which were considered acceptable by my mother, and for two brief afternoons, a rat and a puppy, both of which I wasn't allowed to keep.

So anything really. Except maybe snakes. Definitely no tarantulas.

That's usually the conclusion I come to when I consider getting a pet. Maybe I should just go spend the day at a petting zoo.
