..."It's been awhile"... Lately, I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off... I don't feel like I have enough hours in the day to get everything done. But, I'm trying to keep it in perspective. If I don't get everything done, my world won't come to a crashing halt...
Oh, Happy Valentine's Day, btw! It's hard to believe that February is already half over. Dan and I actually don't celebrate V-day... However, we do celebrate a self-made holiday on February 15th called I Love You Day... 2/15/04 was the first time we said that to each other, so we just postpone our Valentine celebration until the 15th, which is actually pretty cool because we don't have to deal with the rush on the 14th. So, we'll be feelin' the love tomorrow...
School has been going really well, even though there is a ton of reading this semester. I'm taking Schools of Family Therapy, my prof group, and Psychopathology and Assessment... In Schools, we're learning about the different types of family therapy, and in Psychopathology, we're using the DSM-IV-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 4th edition, text-revision) to diagnose people... Which has been trippy... Me? Diagnose people with disorders? It's just bizarre, but I'm actually having a lot of fun with it, and learning about some really interesting things... However, trying to figure out the depression/anxiety disorders is a bitch. It will come though.
In some REALLY good news, I've been offered a practicum (internship) position, which is a big relief, because now I don't have to worry about it. I haven't accepted it yet, because I have a couple of other options, but it's a weight off my shoulders that I have one, and can actually finish in 2 years instead of dragging it out for 3. (I was scared I wouldn't find one and then have to wait another year to apply for another one.)
In other news? Dan and I are going down to Chicago to visit my friend Bubba, her husband, and 2 little girls... I'm super excited about it. We'll be down there from 2/28-3/3... Then, we'll be in Phoenix visiting Jason and Jon from 3/6-3/11, so over my birthday... I'm super excited that I'll be spending my 30th with my best friend:) We're also planning some sort of trip during my break from school which is at the end of April/beginning of May...
What else??? Oh, I have to go visit a gastroenterologist (stomach doctor) on the 22nd of this month... I've always had stomach problems, but they've gotten bad lately. I was "diagnosed" with irritable bowel syndrome back in 2002, but the doctor I saw did no tests whatsoever, and just called it IBS... If I actually do have it, fine, but I want to know, finally, what the hell is going on. For all I know, it's a food allergy that's making my tummy wonky.
Speaking of allergies, I went and saw my allergist to get tested for food allergies. When my cousin Kate had her bachlorette party last March, we had sushi, and it made my mouth itch, so I figured I should find out if I'm allergic to seafood. My doctor tested me for milk, and then various fish, but nothing turned up. However, she said that the tests aren't always reliable, especially with fish, because raw fish proteins are different from cooked fish proteins, and the protein she has has been heat treated. Plus, she only has protein for a few fish. She wants me to carry around an epi-pen with me at all times, just in case. *shrugging* So, I've been carrying one around in my purse. I think it's probably overkill, but if I truly am allergic to some kind of fish, and have a bad reaction, I'll be glad to have it.
Alright. I'm outta here. I need to go make some Valentine's cards... Nothing like procrastination, right??;) Speaking of cards, I'm having a Stampin' Up party this weekend (Sunday, 2/18 at 2pm) if anyone is interested in attending, and/or ordering anything!! Let me know!
