Syllabus for Public Speaking: It's Not All Funny Voices, Spring 2008.

Week 1: Introduction to Public Speaking. (And can you do it?)
Week 2: Making Friends With Strangers.
Week 3: “I Don’t Think He Has a History of Running Amuck”: When Interviews Go Horribly, Horribly Wrong
Week 4: You Can't Always Bribe Them.
Week 5: Sometimes It IS About Funny Voices-- Imitations and You.
Week 6: Getting Off a Good One (and when you should not)
Week 7: Entertain Me-- selecting a topic for your midterm.
Week 8: Midterm (don’t act like you’re not excited)
Week 9: Don’t Say Anything Your Manager Will Regret.
Week 10: Faking It: you only need to pretend to be smart.
Week 11: Faux Outrage and You
Week 12: Sharing the Spotlight (but not all of it)
Week 13: This Is My Serious Face
Week 14: I’d Say Surprise Me, But I Trust None of You.
Week 15: Final

((Of course, this is all subject to change based on events in Fandom. My goal? Capturing drunk squirrels for an in-class lecture. Actually, no. Extra credit assignment!))

Notes: Every week, there'll be a post for class, featuring the topic and either some talking from Richie (brief talking) or a funny (relevant) link. There will also be an assignment. Since it's a public speaking class, it'll usually be something like "Attempt to imitate a famous person," or "Pair up and interview each other. The person being interviewed is an angry drunk rockstar," or something along those lines.

OOC-wise, you have two options here (both I'm totally fine with). You can post "I imitate Paris Hilton, wonderfully/horribly/averagely" and that'll be it. Or you can post "Ohmigod, I can't believe that Tinkerbell ran away again! That's so not hot!"
I really don't care either way, I just want to let people who want to participate participate, and people who don't have the time/energy/motivation to do it don't have to. Richie (and me)-- soooo not looking to fail anyone. Show up and don't mention clowns? What else could he ask for?
