Trigger warnings: Violence, trauma, blood/gore in the description and possibly more in the comments. Written prose-style but action tags are good too! Totally open to anyone. More OOC notes about the dream at the bottom. Also, going to work now so more tags after that.

the death of that cruel smile )

Rubi looked so- sad. why had he done this? was this a memory or some kind of horrible dream? he's so worried of what will happen if Rubi hears him crying on the ground behind him, but he can't hold the tears back. it was just so-
so sad. he sobs loudly in the silence, trying to wipe away his tears as they stream down his face. ]

The living reflection, and then suddenly, the sight of the child sliced into two. Utterly destroyed. Though he had promised to protect Elia forever.]

So he actually pulls the scythe halfway up for a blow before he -recognizes- the person on the ground. The crying person. His eyes go wide in shock and he freezes mid-strike. The scythe just hangs there--he's so surprised.]
....you're not here.

I-I- I-I'm sorry...
[ sorry this happened. sorry he didn't understand. sorry he was here. he was just...sorry about everything.
sorry about that poor child, and sorry about how sad Rubi looked. ]

So even when Rubi slices the child apart, Madotsuki still watches, her expression completely blank. This is a dream. Death doesn't mean anything in a dream - she knows that - and death can often even be a relief - she knows that even more.
Even when Rubi stares and shakes, all she does is standing there and watching him. He might notice her after a while, because no matter how long it takes she only stands there silently, almost emotionlessly. ]

Even though the child is in pieces and destroyed now, the angel can't stand the pained expression on what's left of his face. He wants to comfort him like he always did. But now he never can.
Anger and bloodlust is swirling beneath the grief, the latter a result from his earlier fight. He still wants to hurt something.
So when he catches sight of the girl, he speeds toward her with scythe upraised. He doesn't recognize her, so he assumes she is one of them. He stops just before he can attack. There's doubt in Rubi's otherwise scary expression-- this is a young girl, and something looks off about her.]
...are you one of them?

... That would depend on who 'them' is, right..?

'They' are the tenth tribe? Are you one of them?
[His voice is too calm for the pain in his eyes. Not exactly offhand, but he doesn't grasp the depth of his own grief, or the guilt that he feels over Elia's death.
He only knows that he won't spare any of his enemies, not if he was made to kill his only loved one among them.]

Uh ... dude?

He narrowly dodges a holy spell. But, now his attention is caught on the newcomer. Perhaps it's a foolish move, tactically, but he swoops down toward him with his scythe upraised.
Yes this might not end well.]
How many of you are there! Do you all want to die?
[Not sounding like he cares if they do or not.]

[How confusing. Part of Rubi is tempted to entirely ignore that out-of-place pleading.
But then another of the Tenth Tribe catches up and attempts to cast a holy spell at his back. The Golem whirls on the man and refutes his spell--then doesn't give him a chance to cast another. He flies at him and rips his scythe through his neck.
After that, he doubles back toward Junpei, still rather confused.]
If you don't want to die, run away. Go and join those others who are hiding from me!
[He doesn't recognize Junpei yet. If he thinks the voice is familiar, he assumes it's because he's been to this land of broken castles many times before.]
