I don’t really like winter so I decided to put together a list with fun things to do to cheer me up during the long, cold period that lies ahead of us.
- Drink lots of hot chocolate and Glögg (heated mulled wine)
- Watch Christmas-themed movies. I love How the Grinch stole Christmas. I also really like Love actually even though I realize it’s incredibly cheesy.
- Listen to Christmas music. My favorite songs are Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Do they know it’s Christmas by Band Aid. I also love Trans-Siberian Orchestra!
- Eat my mum’s Christmas ham. It’s a tradition every year that my grandmother buys the meat from a place where they sell organic meat and then my mom cooks it. I’m not a big fan of ham or meat in general but my mom’s Christmas ham is a must!
- Take up skiing. I don’t really know why I wrote “take up” considering I haven’t skied in like ten years I don’t really think there’s anything there to take up.
- Make Christmas candy with my friend Emma. It’s a tradition we’ve had for three years now to get together before Christmas and make Christmas candy. Sadly I don’t think I’ll have time to do it before Christmas this year because I’ve been so busy with studying for my German exam and then next week I’m going to Gothenburg, but hopefully we can meet up some time after Christmas to exchange gifts and make some candy!
Is there anything missing on my list? What do you do during the holidays?
