I cannot find HRC's name in that list. Am I misreading it?

I was going to mention the same thing. The HRC is notably absent from this.

I wish I weren't so bitter but instead of reacting to this article by being happy with all those who supported trans folks, I just looked for HRC and got pissed when I didn't see it.

It seems like every time HRC leaders are in a private setting they say trans folks are so important and they'd never leave trans folks out again but then they make stupid decisions like this to remind us that they don't give a shit.

Who wants to organize a cross-city protest of HRC at Pride 2008?

(no, really. We'd need to get a coalition of interested parties, not just white transfolks, but also qpoc, tpoc, sex workers, leatherfolk, polyfolk, poor queers of all stripes, homeless youth, etc etc, and demand a sweeping organizational restructuring to ensure that these issues are taken into account on an ongoing basis, not just that they fix a specific issue. But it *really* needs to happen, and until they start getting protested at Pride, I don't see how they're going to start listening)

I am writing to HRC right now to thank them for their shows of support thus far, and asking that they continue to show support to the transgender members of our community.

I'm writing to HRC to ask why I don't see them listed as one of the 9 GLBT organizations standing against changing ENDA and FOR transgender rights being included.

Done.

The frustrating thing is that they never really answer when you call, they just direct you to voicemail...

Even with the *notable* absence of HRC's name in the list of organizations going to bat for us, it's still very heartening to see some solid support from groups that have some real pull in the movement.

I agree, and I believe if we contact HRC they may become one of those groups to actively show their support
