Another update to this delightful to-do list that I posted originally back in June. I've now removed the items that were complete as of my last update :)
2. De-clutter my study yet again. Update: *snip* This is in process, especially now with my new bookshelves that were the most delightful and thoughtful of gifts :) I am doing temporary things because I don't have the money to make it *perfect* now.
4. Write stuff for liminal_boundaries and for the Kinky Feminists Carnival blogspace that I've offered to assist with the moderation of. I never quite managed to write something for the Kinky Feminists Carnival of that submission, I shall try again for the next one. I have been drafting stuff for Liminal Boundaries, but it's not ready for posting yet.
5. Write something for the down under feminists carnival.
Did manage to submit some stuff for the Down Under Feminist's Carnival on a couple of occasions! Yay!
6. Write something up of the interesting experience watching the bingo card of logic fallacies being played by people against well reasoned feminist/activist arguments.
In short, I feel like this is a brick wall that I'd be beating my head against, thus there are better uses of my time. Also, I'm not as sure what I wanted to talk about now as in June. I suspect the 'Time to Tell Mum' campaign that EFA was doing provoked it though.
7. Read the issues of Filament Magazine that recently arrived in the mail. Order a subscription for the future issues now that I have the back issues.
I have managed to read at least one of my back issues, and I did order my subscription back when I had money :/ My plan is to read and be up to date taking advantage of my bath tub to do so :)
8. Listen to the music I've leeched and yoinked off people. Let go of what really doesn't work for me, see which of the 'so so' songs I come to like/love with more time, find new favourites and create playlists of various focuses with favourites/styles, find a not itunes way of buying some of the awesome songs from Last.fm that I've been loving. Suggestions welcome. Update: Now using itunes because nothing else was really cutting it.
9. Get my blogfeed back under control - it's back up over 1000 entries again :P There'll be a chunk of scrolling in there, as I'm not interested in *everything* Lifehacker posts, but enjoy good chunks of it. Update: I'm back up to over 1000 entries, so this still counts though I got as low as under 300 entries at one point!
10. Drink lots of lovely tea. Read new books, re-read favourites.
I've been drinking *a lot* of really nice tea and this makes me happy :) I've also been reading some lovely books, no re-reads at this point though. Need to finish a couple I had to return to the library too :) Update: Continuing drinking lots of tea, suspect I'm about to switch over to ice tea though :P As far as reading goes, successful on both counts as I re-read some LKH for comfort reading, also Lois McMaster Bujold as well as reading a bunch of new and enjoyable stuff. Notable author name that comes to mind: Nalini Singh.
11. Spend time with friends and loved ones, planned and impulsive outings, and outlandish adventures. Fall in love with them and others often, randomly and for both profound and whimsical reasons. This is ongoing -it's always a constant on my inner to do list and it keeps ticking over. So this is happening - if without some of the more outlandish adventures I could imagine. But the falling in love? Oh yes. Update: Every word here is still absolutely true. Some of the time spent with loved ones has been painful, but that too caries value.
12. Explore spaces of meditation and some related stuff.
13. Figure out how I can get my hands on a cello and some lessons in same, without huge initial outlay till I work out whether I love the practice as much as the idea of playing.
14. Practice some writing for a different space/audience. I have a project in mind for this. I have no idea what I was talking about here and I haven't left myself any notes :P
15. Declutter bookmarks and 'to do' bookmarks and stuff - move stuff to Delicious as appropriate and get rid of the obsolete. Update: This is high on my things to do 'now' and 'soon' list.
16. Try out belly dancing. This is part of a project in my head too.
17. Practice driving - particularly manuals so that I can get my P plates and come closer to spontaneous adventures all on my own. Driving my own awesome bus to wherever awesome town happens to manifest.
22. Figure out Melbourne trip for Worldcon. See if I can somehow wadge another road trip in around this, particularly if it involves the Great Ocean Road, Tasmania, or the Nullarbor. So I didn't manage another road trip in there, but I did get to Melbourne for the con, and even up to Barnawartha to spend an idyllic weekend with R. Pure magic.
24. Cook favourite and new things and have people over for dinner and other food like gatherings There has been a little of this - not as much as I'd have liked but have tried new things and things I've made successfully before. Some of it has been rare and treasured family meals just the boys and I, some of it has been with friends expected and unexpected. Tonight I just tried out two new orange cake recipes.
That's where I've gotten to. I'm about to let go of the stuff on this list and move onto a list with a much different focus. However, that is a separate post, and I'm still thinking on it. It involves making friends with not doing 'anything' not working, not looking for work, not studying... ascendant are other things that have been neglected due to ever present other commitments. Time for a change :)
