"Welcome-a to Videoland!" tells you an animatronic, rusted and chipping man. "My name is-a Somari the Spaceman! It's-a very good to see you, woohoo, ha ha!!" Next to him a green (also chipped and rusted) fat Hedgehog statue dressed in green and with a leather outfit stands close doing a peace sign. "And I'm his good buddy, Scory the Porcupine!

At least this place had something that wasn't totally for babies. Asuka had a fistful of the local currency and she was jamming coins into the machines every so often, eyes narrowed in concentration as she blasted away at strange aliens and maneuvered her character through the perils of a digital world.

The trip hadn't been totally worthless. So far.

"Hey! What're you playing?" Boy, Asuka was really into this video game. You'd have thought her life depended on it or something.

"What's it look like?" Asuka replied. Although it wasn't a snap, it wasn't exactly hard to detect the irritation in her voice. She jammed one of the buttons, trying to shut out the distraction. Last thing she needed right now was more people trying to bother her. It wasn't like any of them actually cared about her, anyway. Or maybe this kid wasn't even from the crew.

"Looks like you're playing a video game all by yourself. Are you from the ship?"

[redheadcarrier]

"Of course I'm from the ship," Asuka shot back, a hint of distraction in her voice. How many questions was this kid going to ask? "I'm trying to concentrate here, you know!"

[tetsuwan_atom]

"Oh... I thought you were a pro. Pros don't get distracted, you know. They can keep going no matter what happens."

Yep.

[redheadcarrier]

"It's not like playing video games is my purpose in life!" ASuka shot back. Somehow, she was still blasting her way through level after level, despite her distraction.

"I'm a pilot!"

Which Atom took as a sign that he could keep talking to her.

"A pilot? What do you fly?"

Asuka ground her teeth together as she put her character through another round of complicated maneuvers. A digital announcer blared, "FATALITY!"

For a moment, Asuka smirked and then she turned her attention back to Atom, "I pilot Eva Unit 02, which is only one of the best war machines in existence!"

"Oh yeah? What's an Eva Unit?" Sorry, Asuka. Atom had no idea what you were talking about.

[redheadcarrier]

"It's a giant war machine!" Asuka rolled her eyes, "Go away already, you stupid brat. I'm trying to concentrate..."

[tetsuwan_atom]

Nooope.

"A war machine? So you're a soldier?"

[redheadcarrier]

"I just said I was, didn't I?" Asuka's character finally met an untimely demise at the hand of her digital enemies and she stepped back with a huff of irritation. She gave the machine a kick and a grumble and then turned to glare at Atom, "Why are you asking so many questions anyway? Don't you have a ride to go on or something?"

[tetsuwan_atom]

"Well, I'm meeting someone later. But I've already been on a bunch of roller coasters and stuff."

Uran was really better at playing the annoying kid with tons of questions than Atom was, but he could still do a pretty good job at it. "Anyway, I figured since I just got here, I should try and get to know some of the people on board."

[redheadcarrier]

"What do I want to make friends with some stupid little kid for? Go find someone your own age!"

Asuka turned, intent on heading further into the arcade. Maybe she could lose the little twerp in there somewhere.
