The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Remus Lupin, looking uncomfortable and out-of-place in his suit, spent his time scanning the crowd, wondering if anyone else he knew might have been brought here as well -- whether friend or foe. At his side, in a position not hostile but quick to raise if needed, he held his wand quite firmly. Despite his cautions and concerns, he did his best to look polite and amiable. This seemed a particularly poor time to make enemies.

Negi was flying overhead when he felt the curious source of magic nearby. "Hey Aniki, you feel that?" inquired Chamo.

"Yeah I did. Hold on."

Swooping down, he put his staff on his back and looked around until he identified the wizard in front of him. "Hello!" he chirped cheerfully, not knowing he had just spoken to one of his favorite literary characters in the world.

Nerd-gasm in three... two...

"Ah... good day." Clearly the International Statute of Secrecy was out the window, here. "I'm afraid I'm quite new here. Could you possibly tell me... well, anything really." He smiled, looking around at the ever-increasing crowd with evident weariness, but still good humor. "I suppose I ought to see if anyone I know is here, first. How is all this arranged?"

"Ah, well to begin with, you're on Stacy, a ship traveling through the Bleed which according to what I know is the space between worlds." said Negi, pointing at the large display windows to the rainbow of colors behind them.

"I'm Negi, Negi Springfield and this is Chamo-kun." added Negi, the familiar on his shoulder giving a wave. "We've been rescued from our homes after they sort of, well..."

"Got blown up," supplied Chamo helpfully. "You my good man, have been chosen to help out this crew and fight against the Ohm when you can. And good timing too: from what we heard we've got support from the people already fighting them."

Negi nodded. "That's right. Can I ask your name sir?"

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Springfield," he said, with only a hint of surprise. It was a rare child to be chosen at such an age to fight... And for all that he sounded as if he'd come from Britain, and clearly had some controlled magic about him, he certainly hadn't been in any of the DADA classes of last year. Home-schooled, perhaps?

"Professor Remus Lupin." He smiled as he introduced himself, at last feeling safe enough to stow his wand.

Graduated with top honors actually but that was besides the point. His brain was in the middle of a state known as ASDF. Internally, Negi was having one of his "fanboy fits", something he hadn't thought he'd have reason to do so for a while now.

Outwardly, he grinned widely, bowing and offering his hand while keeping his cheerful glee deep within. "Nice to meet you Professor Lupin! It's nice to have skilled people in the trades here. You sound like you're from the isles. Where abouts?"

Lupin shook his hand quite courteously, with a sincere smile that did much to ease the lines of his face. "Most recently, Scotland."

The smile vanished as he looked up. "Oh. I suppose that must be gone, as well."

"Ah, I know the feeling." said Negi. "I'm from Wales actually. Quite nice there."

He smiled sympathetically. "If you look about a bit, there are sometimes homes and buildings from our worlds that were found. Usually unfurnished but it depends on the house itself. It does make for a more comfortable stay than in the crew quarters if you can get it worked out."

"We've got an alchemist here that can make stuff, and a couple of people working a forge so far," added Chamo, the ermine who waved from Negi's shoulder. "You can ask them for stuff. And there may be unclaimed sheets from the fabric supplies."

"Uh huh, and a clothier as well if you want a suit or clothing other than the plant suit." added Negi.

"I rather doubt my home was important enough to be here," he said with a wry smile, though it concealed a possible gleam of interest. Surely, if anywhere survived, had not Hogwarts? He must make a note to go seeking it, when time and opportunity allows.

"Well, then -- is there a system to this? Are we assigned roles, or set to work somehow?"

"Well currently there's a lot of departments set up; Engineering, Command, Medical and even a Magical Department." said Negi, helpfully giving Remus the subtle nudge that he should go speak to the department head or ask more. "We're not set to work, but rather we're encouraged to do what we feel is more comfortable."

"I teach English for the most part, and other languages on the ship at the school, while I also spend a lot of time in the Media Library. There's a lot of things to research and look up there." said Negi thoughtfully. "Also there's the sensoriums if you want to recreate an environment for training and just relaxing in."

"It seems awfully informal, if we're at war and 'chosen'," Lupin noted. Not a judgment, merely a fact.

"Well then," he said, clapping his hands together. "It seems I ought to find a place for myself in the Magic Department, since I have no other skills to speak of."

Negi chuckled. "Yes, there are many people who feel the same way."

Negi smiled, nodding. "You're a mage then?" he asked with all honesty. Better ought to ask politely than anything else. "You seem rather magical to me."

"I suppose I might have given it away, just a touch," he said with tired amusement, touching his stowed wand as if to reassure himself that it was still there. "Still, if you are openly flying about, it seems there's no secrecy here."

Negi nodded, thankful that Remus was feeling relaxed enough to admit it. "Yes there's no secrecy here since we're all in this together. I can show you where the department is, and then find a place for you. We've got the department and a mobile magic school on a magic bus next to each other."

"Negi Springfield, Graduate of the Wales Magical Academy, 2003. Summa Cum Laude." He smiled. "It's a honor to meet another mage!"

"Wales Magic-" One moment. That didn't exist. There were no other magical academies besides Hogwarts, in--

"Suddenly, I feel very far from home indeed," he muttered. Negi's statement had driven home how alien things were.

Negi nodded. "It's been months for me and I still manage to get turned around by something new."

He grinned at Remus. "Don't worry Professor: you'll pick things up really quick here. It's all really easy."
