The few times that Kang had gone to the Sensoriums and imagined up bits of home, he'd been careful to limit the appearances of anyone he was particularly close to. So far, only Granak and Riel had shown up; the only people he'd expressly banned were his mate and hatchlings. He'd felt that it would be too uncomfortable, too... depressing, seeing ( Read more... )

Her arm was finally out of the cast, and Nanoha decided that she'd gone long enough without using the limb - she needed to get back to training. It'd be best if she did it without Fate knowing, too... so she headed to the Sensoriums to do just that.

Only to enter and find herself in the streets of a rather antiquated-looking town. Clearly, someone else was in here already - and judging from the dragon-like folk who wandered the streets, giving this human girl strange glances, she knew who it was. "Ah... I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything!" She called, wondering where Kang was. Was this his home?

If Nanoha happened to pass by a certain house, one that happened to be larger than the surrounding ones, she would hear the sounds of deep, playful growling, squeaks, and laughter from an open door. Just like when the girls were little, Kang's own children loved it when he chased them around on all fours, pretending to be a bear. Their mother watched, amused, and moved them away when they tried to latch on to her for protection.

She did happen to pass by a certain house, and her attention couldn't help but be drawn to it - especially once she heard those unusual (or not so unusual?) noises coming from inside of it. Part of her felt a bit voyeuristic for looking in on someone's simulation like this, but those little chirps and squeaks were awfully cute...

...as were the tiny little beings making them. Nanoha's hand came to her mouth as she tried to stifle a gasp - they were so adorable!

...was that Kang?

The gasp went unheard, but Nanoha was caught when one of the hatchlings noticed her and stopped in his tracks, staring curiously. One of his sisters ran into him and hissed in annoyance before noticing the human woman as well. Kang quickly sat up, wings rustling and scales clicking, and switched to Common, "Ms. Takamachi."

Fonrar took a step closer to her children, her eyes fixed on Nanoha warily. She wasn't as tall or as big as her mate, but she was still intimidating at over six feet. "...Kang?"

Eva's spent so much time in her own head, watching with no connection to the outside world, that she often forgets when she's eavesdropping. She's watched in on the conversation between Kang and the Sensorium's figments for several minutes before she realizes she should either leave or say something. Her first instinct is to retreat and hope Kang didn't notice her, as this is obviously something of a private moment, but there's something in it that pulls at her memories of letting Edriss keep her calm and entertained with flashbacks to Christmas days and dinnertime conversations from the vault of her mind. And the sight of the children, Draconian as they are, tugs at some longing deep inside her.

"Kang," she says, "is this your family?"

Normally there were guards situated outside the house, as fitting for someone of Kang's power. He'd dismissed them, though, and had forgotten to close the door behind him. At the sound of Eva's voice, both adults looked up, and the shorter one casually pulled Yana and Brevo, who were still glaring at each other, closer to her. Switching to Common, she asked, "Who is this?"

Kang's scales clicked quietly, a sign of his embarrassment at being caught like this. "...Ms. Salazar. Ah, yes. Come in."

"I'm sorry to interrupt." She's a bit surprised that he keeps the Sensorium running despite being interrupted, but goes with it. She looks towards the other adult Draconian and smiles, noting the protective attitude towards the children. "Hello."

"No, it's fine. I... knew there was a risk of it, though I hoped no one would find this particular spot," Kang assured Eva, ducking his head a bit. "This is my mate, Fonrar. Come sit down."

Dean was passing by, and heard some noise near the Sensoriums. He usually only liked them for training and practice. Not for holodeck funtimes since it's not real, what's the point?

He knocked, then opened the door to enter, and glanced around. Damn, it's like stepping into Lord of the Rings land and shit.

The streets were crowded, full of draconians of every metallic type (all adult, strangely) a handful of humans, and even a dwarf or two. Dean received a few strange looks due to his clothing, but was otherwise ignored.

A very young draconian darted through the crowd, followed by none other than an irate Kang. "Yana, get your tail back here now!" Finally, he caught up with her and snatched her up in his arms with a deep growl, "You will learn to behave, little girl."

"Kang?" Dean wondered, and hurried over to him.

"Hey man, what's going on?"

Toothless tended most often to fly when he was in the Sensoriums. It may not have been real, and he knew that, but it still didn't change the fact that he missed the sensation. He never quite missed it enough to wish he had it again, simply due to the fact that were he able to fly all his lonesome again, he... would be just that. Night Furies had never been attributed to be terribly sociable creatures, so perhaps Toothless was strange, but once he had met the teenage Viking he had found himself more and more intrigued and interested by his presence, until they became such good friends and so inseparable that Toothless decided he really didn't want to consider life without the boy ( ... )

Toothless's presence in the city had not gone unnoticed. It was extremely rare to see dragons out in the open anymore, due to the Dragon Overlords killing them and adding their skulls to their totems, and even more rare to see one inside Teyr. Krynnish dragons weren't very fond of draconians, for differing reasons, and the feelings were mutual.

It helped a bit that the Night Fury was black in color instead of metallic, and that he appeared much different than Krynnish blacks. It also helped that this was a simulation instead of reality, for he wouldn't have been allowed to roam without guards accompanying him.

Not having noticed Toothless yet, Kang flared his wings a bit and moved onto all fours. The little male on his back managed to keep hold, grabbing onto his horns, and immediately, the others tried to clamber up as well. Fonrar grinned, "I remember doing that. It's still strange seeing them do it, too."

The notice the city took of him was far from lost on Toothless. He saw the stares, and they only barely confused him. He was hardly used to being able to move through a populated area at all without getting attacked, to where simply getting stared or get pointed at was a vast improvement. Still mildly unsettling, but a vast improvement.

He may have thought he was intruding on the scene, Kang so clearly immersed in spending time with his mate and his hatchlings, but the view of him getting down on all fours and letting the young ones climb all over him was rather hilarious, to the degree that the dragon snorted in amusement, blowing his cover.

All of the draconians looked up, and Fonrar immediately moved closer to her children, warily watching Toothless's every move. Kang froze, and switched to Common, "Toothless. Ah, it's alright, Fon, he's not dangerous."

"Are you sure? He's a black." Having never seen a black dragon before, she didn't know that he wasn't Krynnish.

The Sensoriums sure were popular. Jr. looked around at the environment curiously when he entered and saw that it was in use already. "Kang...?" he muttered under his breath when he saw one of the Draconians passing by. There was no question about that.

When he spotted the house, however, his eyes lit up and he smiled. "Woah ... awesome!"

The door was open, and inside could be heard growls, squeals, and laughter. Kang was on all fours, chasing the hatchlings around with a grin, "Careful, or the bear's gonna get you!" Fonrar watched with her own grin, her tail curled around her feet.

He squinted his eyes, trying to get a better look inside without getting too close to the door - he didn't want to look entirely nosy. (Though really, did that matter if he was looking in anyway?) He noticed Kang right away, and ... little-- His kids?

Jr. felt a mix of emotion when he realized what was going on. He felt bad ... because Kang, like everybody else allied with him here on Stacy were fighting to get their loved ones back, and having kids must have hurt that much more. But Kang's look of happiness, even if this was the Sensoriums, was heartwarming.

Fonrar spotted the human first, and immediately stood up, eyeing him warily, "Who are you?"

Freezing, Kang looked up, and scales clicking quietly, stood up as well, obviously embarrassed to have been caught like this. "Ah, Jr. It's alright, Fon, I know him."
