unlearned's fic,
nietzsche is dead. Mine is not as good, and I did ask for permission. So please don’t kill me. Also, read it. Because you may not get some of the references. And because it is really good.
They knew something was wrong the moment Sungmin reached for his glass of water, and it met his hand midair. Heechul is the only one around at the time, and the only reason he is indignant is because he didn’t get his first. For about ten minutes Sungmin enjoys the power, thinks it’s amazing; the phone starts ringing.
Jaejoong sounds a little offended, even over the phone line, and Sungmin loses faith in the world, when he says, "So, I hear you copied my power, asshole."
---
"Junsu told me." is all that comes out of Jaejoong’s mouth when they show up at the dorms. He is a little put out when Sungmin tells him he can control their shared power, and it is awesome, because if he’s going to have the same power as someone else, he better be really good at it. Apparently, Junsu knows all, really, and Sungmin resolves to find something to blackmail information out of him.
It is during this little get together that Ryeowook gets a taste of his own powers, when the person closest to him, the unfortunate Yesung, is suddenly bawling like a child. Surprisingly, this has nothing to do with the fact that Kibum and Siwon are fighting over who gets to have sex with Yoochun first.
---
Ryeowook is not kind at first and takes great pleasure in making the others feel like idiots. It’s not really an intelligence thing; it’s just that he can actually force them to feel inferior. After a while, once he gets sick of making Siwon cry, and slightly disturbed by the sight of a bouncy Kibum, he comes around to the fact that he can control other people’s feelings. The fans think it’s awesome, how the other members practically worship him, except for maybe Sungmin, because they have an agreement.
Finally, the worshipping gets old as well, and Ryeowook settles for smaller things, giving Eeteuk energy after a long day, or cheering up Yesung when Sungmin moves his bed onto the roof.
---
For a couple of weeks, Sungmin and Ryeowook are the only ones who can do anything out of the ordinary. Sungmin, because they are always tired, no matter that Ryeowook has begun using his powers in their favor, has taken to getting things for the others. He is also getting really good at giving pep talks, because everyone seems to now go to either him or their other super hero. So, for a while they are the only ones.
Then Shindong wakes up in Eunhyuk’s body.
---
Eunhyuk is pissed when he finally wakes up, because Shindong, after realizing he wasn’t in his own body, had drawn a permanent marker moustache on his face. None of them seem remotely phased when Sungmin has a glass of orange juice in his face, nor when he is suddenly calm, because suddenly Ryeowook also looks smug. Shindong for his part is an absolute bastard, and he is positively joyous the first time he takes over Eeteuk’s body on a variety show, and makes him do something stupid.
Eeteuk is pissed, and begins to hope that if he gets a power, it is something he can kill Shindong with. Kangin breaks the bedroom door the next morning, and the leader couldn’t be more pleased.
---
They have made Shindong apologize over, and over, and Kangin is still barely awake, and they aren’t allowing him to even touch the fridge, considering what he did to the cupboard. Yesung is the only one who is getting away with laughing, because he has Ryeowook on his side, and he is doing his part in making Kangin less murderous.
Finally, they get him some food, and get around to talking about how hilarious it is that he, the strongest one in the group already, is probably now the strongest person ever. They get ready, and Eeteuk doesn’t complain over helping him get dressed, because, hello, he is really strong and may just rip his clothes.
---
Two powers are found out, almost simultaneously. Siwon wakes up in the morning, and tells them all how the day is going to go. Not in a schedule type of way, unless listing off every detail of how Donghae climbs the walls is schedule-like. He is smug and vague when they ask him about their futures.
Donghae, curious, does indeed climb the wall that morning. He also jumps over the counter, and holds his breath in the tub for nearly twenty minutes before Sungmin drags him out and smacks him for getting a better power. They are tempted to check if he can run like a cheetah, but he insists he’d much rather act like an alien.
They call up Yunho, who says he already knows, because Junsu will not shut up about how Christians get the best powers. Sungmin is in his room, trying to pretend that he isn’t still upset over his lame power, and Kyuhyun is lurking outside the room, having a really quiet one sided conversation with the door. Heechul is still bitching about his lack of powers, and says he is going to get drunk.
---
Heechul comes back at midnight, too early to have gotten properly inebriated, and complains so loudly that Sungmin finally comes out of his room. The thing about getting drunk, he says, is that the bar is so dark you can’t see any of the unattractive people. This doesn’t work so well, he continues, when you can suddenly see in the dark. Sungmin, tired, and none too pleased with being woken up, tells Heechul to stay in the attic until they have a use for him, such as a power outage.
Hankyung’s power has already manifested, but no one realizes until they have a run in with a foreign woman.
---
She speaks in such a rapid succession of foreign sounds, that nobody can even catch a sound. Except Hankyung, who replies in the same language and is trying really hard not to laugh, because now he can’t pretend he doesn’t understand anymore. He is trying to ignore Sungmin, who says that he feels ill, dizzy even; that’s all he says before he faints. Kyuhyun catches him, but falls, and Hankyung finishes explaining that they are not trying to pick a fight with her overly large boyfriend. Kangin looks smug, because they know who would win that one.
They rush Sungmin to the hospital, amidst rumors of drug over doses and ‘Oh, another star in the hospital from malnourishment’ but the doctor lets them know that Sungmin is perfectly healthy, not even a little bit exhausted, and he cannot, for all his degrees, and schooling, diagnose what is wrong.
---
When they get back to the dorms, Kyuhyun mentions nothing about the rips in his jeans, soaked through with blood. It is not because he doesn’t want the others to worry, but because the cuts and scrapes have already healed over. He especially doesn’t want Sungmin to find out, because he is still stressing over his power.
It is impossible, however, to keep a secret in their dorms. Kyuhyun, on the rare night when he is forced to help Ryeowook and Sungmin make the meal, nearly cuts his finger off, because he is paying more attention to what Sungmin is humming, than to what he is doing. Ryeowook is panicking, but Sungmin is staring transfixed, as the injury closes itself up, and the bleeding stops.
"I guess that explains how you healed so quickly from the accident." He doesn’t sound like it really matters, but Kyuhyun is sorry anyways.
---
"Kyuhyun..." Sungmin is on his bed, wiggling, and shaking him like it’s really important. He sounds panicked, and this is the only reason Kyuhyun is as coherent as he thinks he might be when he sits up. "I think I’m going crazy." Now that his eyes have stopped blurring around the edges, he can see what Sungmin means, because their normally white room is red, and the floor is covered in grass. In fact... Kyuhyun is sleeping on a rock, and Sungmin is not wearing any clothes.
"Me too." he says, obviously worried for his own sanity, but even so, no clothes on Sungmin is a good look. "I wonder what the hell they fed us."
"Sorry!" there is shouting in the front room, and Eunhyuk looks into their room, apologetic and a little bit shocked. "It’s me. Whatever it is you’re seeing, I’m sorry. I’m trying to stop it."
---
Yesung’s power has been growing since the beginning, but they didn’t realize until well after Eunhyuk had started controlling his illusions. Once things had settled down, it was obvious that Yesung was suddenly good at everything. He could cook better than Ryeowook, and on every variety show they went on, people were suddenly commenting on how good he was at everything. Except failing.
It was weird, because he was now incapable of not being competent. He wasn’t the best at everything, but he could do the strangest things, like juggle glasses, whereas before, he’d barely been able to carry them. It seemed like the only thing he couldn’t do, was shut up.
---
Eeteuk finally gets his power. And he is smug, and superior looking, leaving the others scrambling. He can hear what they’re thinking. Kyuhyun is out of the apartment so quickly, nobody is sure they’ve seen him move so quickly, ever; he doesn’t come back until after he makes Eeteuk promise not to pick his brain. Eeteuk, like Sungmin, has perfect control over his power, and seems to find joy in knowing their secrets, even if he doesn’t always tell. Kyuhyun feels safe in the knowledge that Eeteuk keeps his promise.
They are eating breakfast, and Eeteuk is hinting at something he has heard Yesung thinking, when Sungmin mentions that he doesn’t feel well, he has a headache, and then he faints into his cereal. There is general panic, and then they find themselves at the hospital again.
The doctor says Sungmin is perfectly fine, take him home, and get the medical mystery out of his hospital.
---
There is a moment of panic during a performance, when Kangin snaps the microphone stand. The audience, for once, falls silent, until Donghae starts laughing and does a back flip. They finish the show on an adrenaline high, and Eeteuk laughs at them all. Sungmin faints again in the dressing room, but they don’t bother with the doctor this time.
---
Eeteuk makes Sungmin stay in bed, because there has to be something wrong with him, if he keeps fainting all the time. So, instead of sending him to do the grocery shopping, they send Kibum, and Donghae begs to follow. They are crossing a busy street, nothing out of the ordinary, but one car has faulty brakes, and the driver has been driving too fast in the first place.
At the last second, Donghae swears later he could practically feel the car on his ass, Kibum has them on the opposite sidewalk, and they can only stare as the car rolls by, coming to a halt on the other side of the intersection. There is a quick apology, and the two of them get out of there before they are recognized.
Donghae is amazed, and he races Kibum home, utilizing his ‘mad cheetah skills’. Kibum tells him he’s glad they’ve finally come to acknowledge that he cheats.
---
They begin to call themselves Super Junior Super, but no one can really celebrate, until Junsu finally tells them what the hell is wrong with Sungmin. He and Siwon, who won’t say a word, are sitting at the head of the table looking on with grave disappointment in their respective groups.
"We were waiting for you to figure it out." Junsu laments, chewing on an apple. Siwon nods and everyone glares at the two of them. Shindong threatens to jump their bodies off of the roof, and they finally spill the giant secret. "Sungmin has all of your powers. And ours. Except mine. And I can’t tell you why."
Apparently, Sungmin not realizing that he had the other powers was stressful to his body, as they continued building up, and break him down. He did a quick show, momentarily hovering off the ground, courtesy of Yunho, and because he thought it was the best power, reading everyone’s mind.
Kyuhyun didn’t even have time to run.
---
Their manager walks in one morning, to find them all wearing aluminum foil hats, and thinks he probably shouldn’t ask.
