So I've nearly weened myself completely off of Amazon for ordering books, and have been ordering all my books through
www.betterworldbooks.com. If you haven't heard of it yet, this site is amazing. All of your purchases contribute funds towards worldwide literacy initiatives, and every order is shipped carbon neutral with offsets carbonfund.org. Also - shipping within the US is free. Makes me feel sooo much better about my weekly orders when I'm not courting the lion's den of market-share hoarding amazon. Got to admit though, still using Amazon's reviews and list functions!
Anyway, finals are done this friday! I'm so excited about this summer, studying for my accounting final is getting to be really too much to ask. Things coming up in my life:
- I am going to Amsterdam with my mom right after finals! Holy jesus martinez, this was so unexpected so I am triply grateful for it.
- Paulina will be mine! (she is studying abroad in the Netherlands at the moment.) I haven't swathed her babysoft cherub cheeks in the nimbus of my fervid lovin' since 2006.
- I am going to be living/interning in NYC this summer at Catherine Malandrino.
- The other company I was considering couldn't give me a reply until April, and I had told CM I would reply in March, so I picked the latter and am really excited about it. Most everyone in the company speaks french, so I'll get a lot of speaking practice. Plus my supervisor, who I talked with at the interview way back, is so sweet and amazing I can tell already.
- Also, so is Matt! Well he's interning at a consulting firm, not so much Malandrino.
- Sarah and I just leased Sabinal, as it turns out I have a place to live next year.
- Matt and I are taking a class together next Fall. He's dauntingly intelligent --> I have the best possible built-in study buddy = A for sure in the class! Use'm or lose'm.
- I am surrounded with some really wonderful ladies. (And men but that goes without saying) I just have a few really close lady friends that I've made at uni. but they're some of the most valuable ones I've come across. Which I suppose is in part a function of growing and developing more mature friendships as I get older. I share common interests with them but they also come from very different backgrounds, it's so refreshing to be around them.
- I'm loving Austin more and more and more. The weather, the running trails, the amazingly whimsical residential neighborhoods (walking through soco!)
Side note: I just finished Donna Tartt's The Secret History - it would make a great page-turning summer read, so if you haven't read it, go! Also read, upon Mark's recommendation and his lending me the title in question, In the Lake of the Woods last weekend - another pretty good, ensnaring read. Tell me if you've been reading anything worth passing along lately!
