Are you going to wear a sleep corset? Serious waist-trainers do, so that your middle doesn't hurt when you wake up. It's generally made of softer and maybe even slightly stretchy material with light boning. A waspie should do, so you can still flex and feel comfortable for sleeping.

I've never noticed my middle to hurt when I wake up. I lace down about 5" for 12-14 hours a day right now and have never worn a corset to bed.

I know that those who wish for a much more significant reduction that what I'm aiming for (8") do wear a corset 23/7 but that is usually only for much more pronounced reductions.

I could very well be wrong though. :)

I'm going to try sleeping in mine.
It's wasn't part of my plan -
I origonally was just aiming for 12-14 hour days - but I'm SO COMFORTABLE.
I'll try tonight and we'll see.
If it doesn't work out, I'll probably try again when I get the corset comfortably closed *8)

Yeah, I could see there being a cutoff as far ar how much reduction requires nighttime corsets. And it might even be different for different peoples' bodies.

Re: hmm trainedwaist April 23 2003, 20:04:55 UTC

that's what Amy from waspcreations said.
My boyfriend does a few since he has a bad back -
and I've generally just stretched it on occasion because I had a bad back (one of the reasons I got the corset, actually).
Today was AMAZING I felt SO good -
I think lowering it on my torso really helped.
I do need to start exercising and stretching though. Just will have to wake up earlier!

Im reading

How small are you going to go?

What are your concerns as far as your organs go?

no concerns for my organs ...
I'm not a "serious tightlacer".
I'm taking my reduction with ease - and listening to my body.
Right now my goal is a 6" reduction. Or really, comfortably getting my corset closed. Once I reach that goal - we'll see if I want to go further.

I had my corset designed by waspcreations.com
She's brilliant and designs corsets for the modern tightlacer. The reason many women had problems with their inner organs was because of the construction of the corset. Granted - mine will be slightly "hugged" but that's all - as I'm not intending to do anything extreme. I just enjoy wearing the corset *8)

How do you measure the amount you've laced down? You toss out various measurements at various places in your journal here, but I'm confused... are you measuring the laces and subtracting that from your waist, or measuring over the corset, or...?

measurements are taken over the corset.
When I put the corset on - I just wrap the tape measurer around.
I'm down 3" now because I started with a 30" waist *8D
