So tonight was my first night working at Pepper's Pizza on Franklin street. My neighbor, Nikki (who I adore), is the wait-staff scheduler/manger, and she was able to get me some shifts. It's only an occasional weeknight and weekend shift. But after two long-distance conferences and 12 PhD applications, every bit helps. I'm only going to work as a host/back-wait, but I am training to wait tables so maybe I can pick some sub shifts here and there. I hoped I was going to like it, but It was so much more fun than I hoped for. I think any job where you can hear Thriller (the whole album) and Welcome to the Jungle is a good one. Plus the environment seems so fun and lively. Also, I figured I would eventually see someone I knew there. Who knew it would happen my first night? Page, who was a regular at the Park Diner and who I seem to see at any quality show that I go to, like Megafaun and The Rosebuds last weekend, came in with some friends to eat. I didn't wait on him, but I did say hi. I was a bit nervous going in because in high school when I waited tables briefly I had a bit of problem dealing with strangers. I was always too worried about interrupting a conversations, so I wound up hovering way too much. I'm so much more confident these days; I didn't have a problem at all.
I have the feeling I'm going to be eating more pizza than I should
(p.s this is part two of the feed test)
