Damsel - I like that this isn't a typical plot; but to be honest, the best part about this trailer is whoever edited it to include the Edith Piaf song, which was a perfect fit.

Drive-Away Dolls - I like this one, too; the trailer, anyway, seems quirky and it has some big names in it (I'm always up for Matt Damon!).

Damsel: The song definitely adds another unusual dimension to the trailer. I'm curious to find out how unusual the actual movie will be.

Drive-Away Dolls: The reviews weren't as favourable as I was hoping for. But I'll watch it eventually for all the guest appearances alone.

Hi! :)

The good news is that Damsel has started streaming, so I'll try and watch it sometime soon and report back.

Hi back! :) I hope you've been doing well!

I'm ok. At least as long as I stay away from the news. :)

Any comment on the Oscars? Did you prepare like you sometimes did in the past by watching a number of nominated films at one of your local theatres?

I hear you! Super depressing, though it's hard to stay away. I try and listen to just a couple of news podcasts and then walk away.

I watched the BAFTAs this year and with Oppenheimer and Poor Things winning so much, I figured it'd be the same at the Oscars and it looks like I was right.

I really wanted to watch all of the Best Picture nominees before the ceremony, but didn't quite make it. I got through 6.5 (I'm still working my way through Oppenheimer since it started streaming). I didn't get to Zone of Interest, Poor Things, or Anatomy of a Fall. My favorite so far, though, was The Holdovers. And I was disappointed by Past Lives. I thought that was going to be much more interesting.

Did you get a chance to watch any of them? What did you think?

I think, after the next election in November I have consciously try to reduce my news intake. Hopefully it will be because the threat will be defeated, and not to protect my sanity.

I got through 6.5 (I'm still working my way through Oppenheimer since it started streaming).:) I thankfully had no problem making it through the full three hours in one go. They easily could've made a mini-series out of it. I very much enjoyed watching it. I plan to buy the BluRay once it gets discounted since it has a lot of bonus material ( ... )

Fingers crossed!!!

I very much enjoyed watching it.I still haven't sat down to finish it, though to be fair, I have only watched one movie since starting Oppenheimer (Theater Camp, which was light and fun and the sort of mood I was looking for). There is only one person I know who didn't like it very much, but everyone else is raving about it ( ... )

Which Blu-ray specials are you looking forward to watching once you buy the disc(s)?
Usually, an informative or funny audio commentary is a big reason for me to buy a BluRay. But I don't think Nolan ever recorded one for his films. But there's usually a multi-part 'making of' about the movie. Usually, they are mostly listening to people gushing about how great every one was. But for Nolan's films they tend to be very informative about all the aspects of how a movie was put together. You can watch them in one go. Here they are more than one hour long.
It also contains another full documentary about Oppenheimer. You can see a list of all the extras and their length here towards the end. So if one is interested in the movie, then I think you get a lot in addition to a three hours long film.

Maestro ... focused more on his wife than I thought it would.
I had read about that beforehand, but it was still noteworthy how it was more a relationship movie than a biopic with the main focus on him.

Had you had a chance to watch Poor Things ( ... )
