I got through 6.5 (I'm still working my way through Oppenheimer since it started streaming).
:) I thankfully had no problem making it through the full three hours in one go. They easily could've made a mini-series out of it. I very much enjoyed watching it. I plan to buy the BluRay once it gets discounted since it has a lot of bonus material.
It wasn't planned, but much to my own surprise, when I looked over the list of the Best Picture nominations on Oscar weekend, it turned out I had seen all of them except "Poor Things" (which I intend to see in the next week or two). I think it's been a while since that happened. There wasn't one among them that completely "wowed" me. But I was interested in seeing all of them for one reason or another.
The Holdovers: Considering that dramas aren't my favourite I liked it much better than I expected. It was funny and moving. Time passed quickly while watching.
American Fiction: Relative to expectation I was a little disappointed (or maybe better, surprised) that besides the general racial tension that has advertised in the trailer, there was a lot of "normal" family drama.
Maestro was probably the one I cared for the least. But that wasn't unexpected. It always felt like it was made to win awards which always bothers me a little. Though I have to admit that Bradley Cooper continues to surprise me.
Killers of the Flower Moon: That was the most disappointing. It's great that thanks to the people involved in making the movie it raised awareness of the topic. But unlike "Oppenheimer" it's hard to justify the 3 1/2 hours running time.
I was very pleased that Sandra Hüller received so much recognition, even if it wasn't likely she would win the Best Actress award herself.
If I had to pick a favourite of the ones that were nominated (and that I saw) then I would pick "Anatomy of a Fall". I found it the most interesting. It makes you think about relationships, and I liked the ambiguity. As someone said during the ceremony, you still don't know if she killed him. :)

I very much enjoyed watching it.
I still haven't sat down to finish it, though to be fair, I have only watched one movie since starting Oppenheimer (Theater Camp, which was light and fun and the sort of mood I was looking for). There is only one person I know who didn't like it very much, but everyone else is raving about it.
Which Blu-ray specials are you looking forward to watching once you buy the disc(s)?
The Holdovers - I liked this one much more than I thought I would, but for me, it was because the trailer didn't make it seem all that interesting to me. I am becoming more and more of a Paul Giamatti fan and he just crushed this.
American Fiction - I actually saw this before the nominations came out, because the trailer for it looked so interesting. I even bought the book it's based on way back in November because the plot sounded so good. I was very happy with this one. It hit my expectations and was quite enjoyable.
Maestro - I saw this in the theaters and then realized about a week later that I could have just watched it on Netflix. I thought they did a good job with the film, but the beginning was too disjointed for me, and it focused more on his wife than I thought it would.

Had you had a chance to watch Poor Things yet? I haven't, and even liking Emma Stone as much as I do, the trailer has made the movie seem so strange and I hope that I end up liking it.
I very much am looking forward to seeing Anatomy of a Fall and I think Zone of Interest will either be horrifying or just dull, and I hope it's the former.

Usually, an informative or funny audio commentary is a big reason for me to buy a BluRay. But I don't think Nolan ever recorded one for his films. But there's usually a multi-part 'making of' about the movie. Usually, they are mostly listening to people gushing about how great every one was. But for Nolan's films they tend to be very informative about all the aspects of how a movie was put together. You can watch them in one go. Here they are more than one hour long.
It also contains another full documentary about Oppenheimer. You can see a list of all the extras and their length here towards the end. So if one is interested in the movie, then I think you get a lot in addition to a three hours long film.
Maestro ... focused more on his wife than I thought it would.
I had read about that beforehand, but it was still noteworthy how it was more a relationship movie than a biopic with the main focus on him.

It's definitely strange. But the story is good. And Emma Stone gives everything. A bit like with Paul Giamatti I wonder to what degree she's playing herself. :)
I still find it surprising how Yorgos Lanthimos started out making odd movies in Greece, films that started what was then considered the "Weird Greek wave". And now he's still making weird movies, but on a Hollywood scale. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan (I don't understand why he so often uses wide-angle fish-eye lenses which I find distracting) but I like that he's able to use the "system" to realise them.
Zone of Interest will either be horrifying or just dull, and I hope it's the former.
Because of its documentary-like approach it can, in theory, be seen as dull. But if one keeps the historical context in mind then it's unlikely. I don't think it's a movie one can "like". But one that at least should be watched once. Until the score at the end hits you.
