RED still looks, as you suggested, awesome. Very, very much looking forward to it.

TRON Legacy also looks brilliant, and I can't believe they're using that much footage of Young Jeff Bridges. It's uncanny.

And finally, I want to watch Buried. It sounds like it's going to be like Cellular and Phone Booth, but in a much, much less pulpy context, and that makes for good cinema.

Red: One of those trailers I have to force myself not to watch it repeatedly.

TRON Legacy: I didn't like this trailer as much as the previous one. Maybe because I'm familiar by now with the new look. I'm actually a little confused by Bridges' look.

Buried: While it's taking things to an extreme level, I'm always interested in movies that take place within a limited amount of space and/or time. And this seems to set a new record.
I very much liked "Phone Booth".

"I'm actually a little confused by Bridges' look."

It doesn't really work, does it? Actually, it looks as though they roped Bob Zemeckis in to naff up his face with his usual sub-par motion capture nonsense. (There's a lengthy cover article in the latest Empire magazine about the film, and - worryingly - they seem to think they've achieved something brilliant with the 1982 era Clu/Bridges character look. Trouble is, if it looks this ropey in a trailer on a computer screen, it's going to look a hundred times worse in 3D down the multiplex.)

It sticks a bit out in a negative way between all the otherwise very polished looking images. In general, I like the new look. My biggest worry is the story which seems mostly like a slight variation of the original one.

Agreed. There's a lot of good stuff they've thrown into it that I'm looking forward to seeing more of - the nods to Kubrick (Flynn the elder's "white room" pinched from 2001) and Michael Sheen doing his David Bowie impression in particular. Something I found surprising from the article I mentioned was Daft Punk's involvement - they've gone beyond merely providing the soundtrack. Apparently they've got (unhelmeted!) cameos, and been on hand for the editing process, too. Ah well, we'll see. They've still got a few months to nail that plastic Jeff Bridges mask. ;o)

I obviously didn't know about the Daft Punk things you mention. But how should I recognise them without the helmets? ;)
I looked for the article after you mentioned it in your previous comment. But I don't think it's available online.

They'll be the ones called into the disc arena as "Da Funk.mp3" and "Robot Rock.m4a". :)

I can see that happening. At least on an outtake on the DVD. ;)

No, you're quite right - they haven't even taken the Murdochian route, and stuck the content behind a pay wall. Just the preview here: http://www.empireonline.com/magazine/

Interesting that they also have a segment about Jerry Bruckheimer. So far the biggest loser of the blockbuster season.

*Nods.* He's taken to desperately Tweeting pics of Johnny Depp in Pirates garb again in an effort to ditch the "franchise-mangler" tag. Not sure it's working. As for the blockbuster season, a friend and I are currently devising an "Exponential Irritant Escalation Scale" in order to try and explain why each successive big release is slightly more annoying than the previous one. The rot seems to have kicked in after The A-Team came out (surprisingly entertaining, only mildly irksome), and has been following the spiral through Knight and Day (bloody irritating) and Inception (pretentiously aggravating) to Salt (illogically preposterous). Quite where it'll go from here until the end of August is anyone's guess, but I'm increasingly sympathetic to the notion that professional film reviewers have a good case for claiming a danger money allowance.

I'm sure they'll make an excellent trailer or two for Pirates 4 but I already found parts 2-3 very superfluous.
And I fear the main conclusion the industry will draw is that from now on everything has to be in 3D, obviously.

Still looking forward to "Inception" and "Salt" though which will only be coming out here in the coming weeks. If only because they will probably the last somewhat interesting non-3D popcorn movies for a while.

Guess what the German-French channel arte is starting to broadcast here tonight: "The Prisoner". From what I've read it's only been broadcast here once in the late 60s, apparently even in a cut version. So I've never seen it. I'm pretty sure it will be shown dubbed but I'm still going to record it and have a look once there are a few episodes.
I believe you think highly of it?

Oh, absolutely. My fondness for the original is what fuelled my ire concerning last year's unnecessary remake. (And I've just realised that I can't even tell you which track from the score I use as a ringtone on my 'phone, as its title is technically a spoiler! Damn! I'll tell you once you've seen Episode 17, "Fall Out". *G*)

I believe that's the last episode. That may take a while until I find the time to watch the whole thing. :)
The good news, much to my surprise, they are broadcasting it with two audio tracks, German and English. Now I have to find a way to get my recorder to store both tracks.
