So... Karate... in China... taught by Jackie Chan... brain... imploding...

(Look, I love me some Jackie Chan, but there are so many levels of wrongness here I don't even know where to start. Ouch.)

Details! Hollywood has no time for that. ;)

I also liked to watch an old Jackie Chan movie now and then for the choreographed "ballet" scenes. He's 55 now so we probably should stop comparing him to his old movies. But of course that doesn't excuse some of the transgressions he committed in recent years.

I hear you. I generally liked "Forbidden Kingdom," even though it's as cheesy as all get-out (and is one of the dorkiest examples of the "white kid becomes a supreme martial artist in the span of a few mostly-off-screen training sessions" trope). But... yeah.

The sad part is, I'll probably end up watching this new "Karate Kid". On DVD. Rental. Maybe. Some day. I have no very little shame.

I have little shame either. But I should be able to avoid this one. I'll probably watch something else I will regret instead. :D I should work on a New Year's Resolution to better manage my movie viewing.

I can't stop watching this trailer for Kick-Ass. The punk music at the end is addictive, and it works well with the action. I also like this Hit Girl trailer.

Karate Kid, as I'd heard, looks surprisingly watchable. The idea of a remake in general, on top of all the details, still make my brain want to crawl out of its skull, but it's been upgraded from "not even if it came with a call girl" to "will wait for the reviews."

Knight & Day looks like a romantic comedy Collateral. I could probably watch that. And wow, I was NOT expecting Marc Blucas to appear on any big screen, seeing as he guested on an episode of Castle a couple of weeks ago. Guess he's finally moving out of the Buffy shadow.

I probably watched it about a dozen times by now. Cheers me up every time. :D
Thanks for the link. I know about the existence of that other file but I try to stay away from clips of movies I'm interested in.

Karate Kid: It certainly looks okay, and the final joke made me smile. But it just doesn't interest me.

Knight & Day: Cruise reminded me of Angelina Jolie. Well, sort of. ;) In the final scene he's clearly imitating her. ;) With the constant screaming of Diaz it's also a similar set-up as the opening action scene of Wanted in which McAvoy did all the screaming. Though later Cruise also pays homage to McAvoy. ;D
Let's forget for a moment the numerous HK action movies that probably had similar poses.

Kick-Ass might be the first thing Nick Cage has been in since I got old enough to watch movies he's in that I'll actually like.

Robin Hood might be good. Can't tell.

Knight & Day would be good it it wasn't that tiny little gnome of a man.

I have a bit of a weakness for Cage. The last one I saw him in at the theatre was Lord of War. And there's a good chance this will be the next one.

Robin Hood: Yes, it's early. So far Ridley Scott gets the benefit of the doubt.

Knight & Day: Very well said! ;)

Karate Kid: Looks cute; I've never seen the original, either, though a friend has loaned me the DVD and it's sitting on my couch waiting to be watched.

It must've been on TV more than a dozen times but for some reason it never really interested me. And now I'm just too old. ;)

Bonus points awarded for Kick-Ass using the Banana Splits theme on that trailer.
