Cold Souls might have the strangest movie summary I've read since Being John Malkovich. so random!

I love it! I hope Giamatti will reveal on a DVD commentary track if he actually played himself or if he just was being himself. And how he prepared for the role. ;)

It was originally meant to be summer popcorn movie. It will now be released mid-November pretty much everywhere, including our continent. :)
There's so much destruction and mayhem that it should be enough for two extra making-of DVDs. ;)

I see what you mean! And there's an additional connection between the two movies. Poseidon was directed by Wolfgang Petersen, the other German director who left the country to make nothing but popcorn movies in Hollywood.

I initially read the Cold Souls summary as being very Malkovich-like and was turned off, but after seeing this clip, I decided I might enjoy it. The last thing Giamatti says really cracks me up, too.

Zombieland looks more fun than I expected. It's like Mickey's alive and killing the undead instead of people now. With Little Miss Sunshine!

The clip shows the director also got some inspiration from Eternal Sunshine. I was actually slightly worried when the clip got released earlier this week. It's unusual that a marketing campaign starts with a clip before the trailer gets out. But it looks like a lot of mind-boggling fun and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Very well said! I think I like Harrelson even better as a Natural Born Zombie Killer. He can be such a goofball. :)

2012: I'm disappointed that John Cusack is in it. I think he's such a blah actor. Feh. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

Zombieland: I checked it out based on your recommendation and you're right, it does look kind of funny. But I still think I'll probably skip this one.

I Hate Valentine's Day: Aw, this is just my type of movie! =D I think it's great that it's Nia and John again in the same film, plus I love watching her movies. I'll definitely see this one.

While I don't care if he is in this particular movie or not, he's usually a positive factor for me. He will forever be the guy who raised the deeply philosophical and life altering questions "Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" :)

Zombieland: It was mainly meant for the fans of the zombie comedy genre. ;)

I Hate Valentine's Day: I included it mainly for you. :)

Surreal comedic drama in which Paul Giamatti, who plays himself, agonizes over his interpretation of "Uncle Vanya."

Many people received bad side-affects when pondering on "Uncle Vanya" (just saying :D)

You mean it's not the first time that Russian authors lead to some deep soul searching. :D

Chekhov (and especially, his plays) are particular well-known to cause all sorts of mental disorders connected with the over-thinking produced automatically upon the contact. This must be where my penchant for the likes of Haneke comes from. After all, I had Chekhov drilled into me as 15-year old (and NOT Harry Potter that British kids of the same age study).

That's what I like about livejournal. You make an innocent remark and suddenly you get a reply with lots of interesting information. Thanks for that. :)

I wonder if having some additional knowledge about Chekhov and such increases the pleasure of watching the movie. The first-time director seems to have an interesting background.
