Observations on living with 2 80yo's and a 5yo...
It is incredible, how similar those two categories are. They are self-centered, demanding, stubborn. You can't negotiate with them, nor use reason. It is if, after years of living, they have reverted back to toddlers, and I have the same level of confidence at leaving them alone for any length of time.
The control of bodily functions degrades. Understanding/comprehension of daily activities fades.
When discussing the schedule of today's appointments, Mom asked, "what does she do". When I told her, her comment was that "why do they treat us as if we were 8 year olds or 90 year olds?" Ummm...because thats the way you act, like a 5 year old spoiled brat?
Mom keeps canceling Dr's. appointments, She is filled with anger at the medical profession, probably considering them all quacks. "They keep trying to kill me with the wrong medicines". Yesterday, she couldn't recall that she had been taken by ambulance twice since returning home.
She thinks another month. I don't think she is going to be ready. Sadly, I don't think they ever will.
