So I've been wondering..

Ahh..Wootton High School.
What a great school. Great classes, great programs, great clubs, great kids, great racism, great...Waiiiiiit.

Yes. That's it. That's what I've been wondering.

So this school has about 164814984669966468464365168 squared Jewish kids.

And 136524652456294564 Asian kids.

And 17463462543345 White kids.

And 23435454 Spanish kids.

And 21312 Black kids.

-sniffle- Okay. I guess that's reasonable. I do live a very "rich" area. Yes. Rich is in quotations because none of ya'll are Bill Gates. Or Paris Hilton.(Or what have you. I'll leave it open for variety. I don't know why reads this. Pick someone.) BUT. You're not them. Sorry to break it to you, sweethearts, but nah. Nope. Never. Get over it. ^_^

But that's not my point.

My point. Would be.

February was Black History Month.

My old school, Watkins Mill, had a huge assembly just to acknowledge the fact that it was Black History Month and to educate all the kids in the school on the history that got them to how they were now, together, instead of segregated.

I don't believe we here at Wootton even had an announcement acknowledging that it was Black History Month.

Do you agree that that's fucked up? Or shall I continue?

I don't care how you answered. I'm continuing anyway.

John Ritter and Chistopher Reeves died this school year. We had announcements in both of their memories. They were beloved actors, not to mention what they were to their friends and families. And we held discreet vigil for the both of them.
God rest their souls.

BUT.

But.

(Here is where my real my point comes in)

Considering that Wootton High School has such a large percentage of Jews, and the fact that the majority of the other kids are indeed Christian, I find that my point holds..a few gallons of water..to say the least.

We acknowledge Jewish holidays. We get them off of school.

Which I think is great, because they have the right to not attend school and not get penalized for practicing their religion.

As you all know, the Pope died Sunday morning.

It's been all over the news for days prior to and since his death.

And I wonder.

Where is the acknowledgement of it within this school?

Where is the announcement recognizing that the man even lived, let alone died.

I myself am a Catholic. And I'm pissed the fuck off that I am forced to recognize everything Jewish, when they refuse to acknowledge a holy man.

And I probably know why.

Most of the teachers are either Jewish or Christian.

And they care none about the death of a Pope, because he does not affect them.

Or so they think.

It's because of their weaknesses as Americans that I'm being forgiving about this. Because America is close minded and selfish.

And don't argue with me on this.

I may not be Black. But it still pisses me off that their history won't be acknowledged within this school.

And it pisses me off that nothing but Judaism and Christianity is even really acknowledge in this school.

Who do I speak to about this?

If the school that I'm ashamed to call mine won't listen..

Maybe the government will.
