♛ ✖

Spirit Albarn

Spirit is usually the one who explains things about Death City and Shibusen to Jules, so he's become a sort of representative of them in Jules' mind -- and since he doesn't approve of being there one bit, he ends up taking it out on Spirit. Maybe if they were more organized and didn't, you know, make people stick around, he'd actually like him.

★ ♧

Serge Battour

Serge is a bit of a mystery. Jules knows him as Gilbert's roommate and a star student, but while Gilbert was around it reawakened his fear that something more than just that was going on. Having someone from Lacomblade around is lovely, of course, but that doesn't mean he needs to trust or like serge by default. There may be dozens of weirdos in Death City, but Serge is the one that Jules wants to keep an eye on.

Cinderella

A quirky girl -- she sews for mice and birds -- but nonetheless a pleasant one.

D

Jules doesn't know an awful lot about D personally, but for a friendship that's mostly formal, he likes him a lot. D obviously knows a lot about tea, for one thing, and he also lacks the obsession with modern things that so many people seem to have. Jules would like to learn more about him!

Haru

Jules is far from unused to men hitting on him -- ones that he's attracted to -- so he thinks of himself as somebody who can easily reject someone else's sexual advances. Haru's flirting is nothing but an annoyance, since Jules is not particularly attracted, and apparently doesn't know when to give up. (Really, he'd expect this attitude from a horny teenager, not a grown man.)

But he doesn't hate him entirely, since Haru's promised him booze. It's just that right now, Jules wants to get the maximum amount of benefits from their relationship with a minimum amount of annoyance.

Jade Harley

Jules is pretty much determined to be Jade's big brother, especally now that Nanako is gone. It's still a little bit weird for him to see girls who not only don't fit into a traditional model of feminitiy but also don't even realize that they're "wrong". While he knows that Jade is coming from a completely different time and place and he can't (and shouldn't) just swoop in and change her, he does want to provide her with an adult influence that has more traditional values (so to speak). Even though Jade likes guns (and girls, apparently!!) he knows she's still a sweet young girl, so that's far from a lost cause.

Kurapika

They talk a lot, and disagree a lot.

❤ ♧

Raidou Kuzunoha

When Raidou came back, Jules realized just how much he disliked the way that BREW brought people without their memories of their former stays in Death City. He considers this Raidou a friend, but he knows it's not the same Raidou -- it almost seems like he's an imposter sometimes, even though Jules knows that's not the case at all and Raidou isn't the least bit at fault.

So Jules is feeling perhaps unnecessarily nervous around Raidou now, even knowing that it's probably unfounded and just because Raidou doesn't remember him doesn't mean there's anything else wrong. He's clearly the same person, well-mannered and kind and apparently fitting Jules' ideal of people doing good just for good's sake.

Santana Lopez

Annoying as heck, Santana has been the person who is most openly hostile toward Jules' words and beliefs since Rachel left. It's not that she's modern-minded that's the issue, oh no, but that she pushes that onto other people and mocks him for disagreeing.

♛ ♡

Roy Mustang

An apartment-mate, and... well. Roy seems to be a very complicated man, and even Jules can't pretend that he knows or understands everything about him. But that's not a bad thing for once; it makes Jules curious, not uncomfortable. It probably has to do with all of the little domestic moments they've had since they ended up living together; Roy may be busy most of the time, but still, co-habiting an apartment together makes people closer in some weird ways. Roy's even called Jules family, and that's an odd way to think of things... not a bad way, though.

Also, it's pretty awesome for Jules' sense of personal safetly to live with the guy who runs the Watch. Just saying.

Nataku

Nataku is weird and Jules doesn't understand him, and those things are not okay. He can't seem to help it, though, he just doesn't understand much about what humans do. Ultimately, Jules wants to know more about him, and maaaaybe teach him some things. Not a friend, but a significant person.

Lili Rochefort

Lili has reacted more strongly to Jules' old-fashioned origins than anybody else in Death City. That's not surprising, given that she is the opposite of what he expects a woman to be like: she's blunt, violent, and almost uncomfortably open about sexual matters. He doesn't dislike her for that, mind, but he really wishes she would calm down and stop interrogating him about his kinks.

Saralegui

Jules hasn't spoken to Sara much recently, and that's probably for the best since they don't seem to see eye-to-eye on most things. He wouldn't call Sara a friend in the least, but doesn't actively dislike him, either; Sara is more of a causal acquaintence that he'd like to keep in contact with occasionally just in case he ever needs to take advantage of it.

❤ ♡

Souji Seta

Jules never expected to find anybody he'd even remotely consider a sibling figure in Death City, and yet here he is. Initially, they met through Nanako, so it wasn't hard for them to get along -- she wouldn't appreciate her "big brothers" being anything but friends. When she was sent home, Jules expected to be in an awkward position with Souji -- sure, they got along fine and Souji had a lot of qualities that Jules appreciated, but with the reason for their bond gone, what would happen? But despite that worry, nothing at all seemed to change between them, which Jules is both grateful for and somewhat baffled about. The rest of his friends here are ladies or people that he feels a need to suck up to, but Souji is just... a friend. Or family, according to him.

Yuuri Shibuya

Maybe Jules would have liked Yuuri more if they met later, but as it is most of their conversations took place when Jules had only just arrived in Death City and was even more suspicious of people than usual. He reminds him of Serge: so enthusiastic and naive it's irritating and makes Jules wonder if he's hiding something.

❤ ♪

Mami Tomoe

He likes Mami, she is one of his favorite people in Death City. Jules isn't really the type to quickly form significant attachments to people and Mami is not the exception to that rule, but she's one of the few people he actively wants to get to know better! She's just completely the kind of person he wants to be around: polite, kind, loves tea, doesn't seem to want anything from him, and her hair is wonderful.

It's probably good for his sanity that he doesn't know she has deeper issues and hidden anguish and all that, he can only handle so much of looking after other people and if he knew more about Mami he might end up trying to babysit her

♪ ♧

Alois Trancy

Oh, Alois. Jules initially saw him as he does most people with money and status in their home worlds: worth getting to know, if only because they're likely to be people that it will help to know in the future. The fact that Alois is from a similar time and place that he is is a plus, since Jules quite likes having people he can relate to in that respect. And, of course, he quickly realized how much Alois is like Gilbert, and that's a huge plus in his book -- another person to babysit, yes, but it's just like home!

But Alois most certainly isn't Gilbert, or anybody else Jules knows from home, and that's something he has difficulties dealing with. Jules is used to knowing how to deal with people's issues and having them listen to and respect him in return (many of Lacomblade's students don't like him, but at least they listen), so Alois' blatant refusal to even consider what he says about manners and religion is extremely frustrating. Of course, people in Death City having completely different and odd beliefs is nothing unusual, but what with Alois' similarities to him and to Gilbert, Jules really thinks that he ought to at least have basic respect for the things that Jules believes (and Alois is no doubt familiar with).

♛ ♪

John Watson

Being an educated Victorian gentleman, Watson was someone that Jules liked from the moment he spoke to him. It would be a bit of an exaggeration to call them friends -- for the most part, their discussions are practical, not personal -- but Jules does trust him to a degree and enjoy his company.

(( dropped ))

Jeanne d'Arc

There's only one other French person in Death City (that doesn't think he's actually a country), but it's freaking Jeanne d'Arc. Nobody's bothered to mention to Jules that she's a saint, but even so he happens to think she's pretty awesome, just on principle. She's a bit boyish for his tastes (women should have the chance to sit there and be pretty at least sometimes!) but that makes sense, considering who she is. Jeanne doesn't really understand why Jules is so interested in getting to know her, but she seems to appreciate it (when he's not accidentally walking in on her changing).

Ezio Auditore

Jules doesn't know an awful lot about Ezio, but he's helping him with learning self-defense and that is pretty nice of him.

Aurora

A princess! Jules hasn't made the fairy tale connection, but the sheer fact that there's a princess in Death City makes him want to know her. They're not close, exactly, but they tend to run into each other at public events and such (and they should have won the dance competition, thank you).

★ ♧

Auguste Beau

It's complicated.

Casablanca

It's probably pretty obvious that Jules thinks she's fantasic. He's a rather devoted Catholic, so seeing an angel is super exciting and the fact that she more or less fits his image of what an angel should be is also a plus. Honestly, even if there's anything he doesn't like about her he's ignoring it because it would feel so darn rude to admit.

♛ ❤

France (Francis Bonnefoy)

He's the embodiment of Jules' country, or so he claims -- Jules, however, is quite convinced that he's nuts, at least in that respect. Countries are made of dirt and rocks!

Monsieur Bonnefoy is whiny, childish, and probably a prostitute. However, he can also be very mature when he wants to be and has provided a surprising amount of guidance to Jules. And by guidance I mean booze. Jules would be be lying if he said that he didn't consider France a good friend that is, for the most part, very enjoyable to be with.

In a bit of awkwardness, he recently left and then arrived in Death City again, younger and without his memories. He's still the same person, but things are a bit weirder.

❤ ♪

Nanako Dojima

The cutest! Jules likes to take care of people, and Nanakowas the perfect person to take care of. She was clearly quite harmless and, despite the many friends she had in Death City, sometime seemed oddly lonely. He became a surogate big brother to her, then a partner (for self-defense, of course).

Jules has lost several loved ones in Death City, but Nanako leaving was by far the hardest on him.

❤ ♪

China (Yao Wong)

A man from the orient and one of the group that claims to be nations, Mr. Wong is intriguing. Unlike France, China seems very rational and stable; if anybody convinced Jules to believe that countries could be people, it would be him.

That aside, Jules rather likes China due to his ability to hold intelligent conversations about the same kinds of things that Jules likes to talk about.

★ ❤ ♪ ♧

Gilbert Cocteau

It's even more complicated.

❤ ♪

Cain C. Hargreaves

The two of them have a lot in common: they're from similar times and places, they're both gentlemen with noble blood, and (most importantly) they have a mutual love for relaxing and enjoying tea together. Jules doesn't know everything about him, and that's probably a good thing, although he doesn't know it. What he does know is that they get along wonderfully and have become fairly close.

When Mary Weather, arrived in Death City, Jules happily befriended her as well. Of course he did; in addition to being Cain's sister she was sweet and kind. And when she and their butler were quickly sent back home, Jules was the only to help keep Cain from falling into despair. Cain himself left soon after, a depressing loss to Jules.

Altaïr ibn La'Ahad

This is kind of an awkward relationship, what with him being on the other side of the Crusades and all.

Adah Price

Adah is... quite honestly, very creepy. Jules doesn't think she's going to do anything horrible, but her beliefs are really skewed (he had to tell her why murder was wrong, for god's sake) and she seems like she could be really dangerous if she wanted to be.

✖ ♧

Rachel Price

So Jules ran into her soon after he arrived in Death City, before he had really gotten used to modern things. She was wearing a pretty skimpy outfit because of the heat, and he made the mistake of mentioning that she should cover up more for her own safety. That was the wrong thing to say, of course, and nothing that happened ever fixed their relationship. SHe hates him more than he does her, but it's still mutual dislike for sure.

Rose Sheedy

She's really a very nice young lady, and a lot like what Jules is used to from back home. Shy, sweet, and very pretty.

Sandrilene fa Toren (Sandry)

She's not only a young lady but a noble one, and that alone means that Jules feels a need to be good to her. They don't see eye-to-eye on most things, but at the same time they're able to cooperate when needed and spend time together occasionally.
