I've started experimenting with/test running recipes for the next MonUCS camp. Heaps more time to prepare for this one. (Last one I did, I subbed in for the original caterer who got sick.)
This time I know I have two kitchen helpers at least. Also I've cooked in that kitchen before and know how limited the kitchen utensils and equipment are. I also know the awsome power of the food processor of doom! So much fun.
Saturday's experiment was making a cheap, vegan, high protien sietan. It's literally made from flour and water and it's what asian vegetarian restaurants make into "mock meats". Sunday's was how to make a combo of cheeses that reasonably substitues for gruyere in French onion soup but costs a fraction of the price. I think we found the answer.
This week there will be more experiments including a baked carrot soup with basil and one or possibly both of the dessert recipes.
All this cooking and experimenting recently has me thinking about writing a food/recipe blog. So, question to the audience, if I was to write such a blog, would you read it?
