As a follow up to my previous post, I've been scheming ever since. I've come up with a Marketing Approach and am digesting a tome called "Arts Marketing Insights" (yay for Kindle's text-to-speech function). Marketing Plan for next concert/remaining season is almost in place.
I think I now have quite a solid idea of how to market to the Gen X/Y contingent of Choristry's audience. Only I'm not quite sure how to reach the Baby Boomers/retirees. Need strategies to get the word out to this age group. But anything printed and mass distributed is quite expensive. This should be the age group that has less concerns about not liking the music or feeling uncomfortable attending live classical music. But how do they find out about performances and groups like ours? What makes them decide to go?
Word of mouth seems to be the most persuasive mechanism, but who are the "influencers" in this group and how to I get them in the door?
Advise me, please, oh, wise friends.
(And yes, I realize the irony of asking this question on the interwebs.)
