Hee... Mr. Wallace is barely even pretending now.

Anyway. At school today I got this random idea, and it intrigued me enough (and I was bored enough) that I went and started typing it out, trying to see if I could come up with a cohesive premise... Unfortunately, as I complained to J.T. when he stopped by, my mind tends to go in some similar paths when given free rein to premisize (heh) and I always seem to stick in some element of time travel. And then the time travel takes over and it becomes a story about time travel. I'm now convinced that it's because my subconscious doesn't want me to write any of these ideas, because I refuse to write any sort of story that includes time travel unless it makes internal sense, and that's hard, especially without copying what other people have done.

In any case, my idea has about twice as many characters as I would actually need, anyway, but maybe if I do get around to writing it, I'll just kill the excess off right at the beginning or something fun like that. I also have no real idea what format it would be, because--in the bare hints of a plot that I have--the pacing's all wrong for a novel. Because of my recent interest in how TV scripts are put together (three guesses why!) I considered that, but it would have to be, like, a three hour pilot episode and I have no idea where it would go from there. So a really long movie? But again, pacing.

Well, there's nothing to it but to play around with it some more. And then figure out how the original central character in the original idea got so overshadowed by the others who popped up that his only real purpose for, like, the first half is to tell the others what year they landed in.

I'm going to go sleep on that...
