Early start this morning! I woke up at 5:00 am -- Yes, deliberately. A friend of mine out here is recovering from spinal fusion surgery. Yowch is right! The good news is that his recovery is going great, and he's healing well ahead of even best hopes. Yay! He'll have to remain in a neck brace through next week, however, and that means that he can't drive since he would be unable to check his blind spot while driving. With that "pesky" (and I mean that oh so very tongue in cheek!) New Year's Resolution I made about looking for opportunities to help people, it's time to step up to the plate. I committed to get up early to drive him to work at least once a week. That's an hour-and-a-half and 50 miles out of my way since I have to drive to pick him up in one city, drive to another to drop him off, and then back to a third to my own office. Totally worth it to help out a friend, however! Ian will do the second half, picking up our friend after work today. I'll see how I feel late this afternoon, how I handle waking up so early. I imagine I'll be annoyingly tired, but hardly at the end of my rope. If so, I think I'll probably volunteer to do this every day through next week. It'd be a big help to my friend, and ultimately it's not that much skin off my nose. It's the right thing to do, even if I feel a little like chickening out right now!
Didn't get much done over Memorial Day weekend, which is fine by me. I played a lot of Medieval Sims, and just relaxed. We went to see "Kung Fu Panda 2." You know I LOVE LOVE LOVETY LOVE LOVE the first one. The second one has its moments (For those who've seen it... "What??" Cracked. Me. Up.) - but overall just seems lacking something of the humor and whimsy of its predecessor. Still, not bad by any means.
We had hoped to take in "Hangover II," but didn't get to it. Coworkers tell me it's pee-your-pants funny. I really look forward to it!
On Friday this week, Ian hopes to make contact with the guy who's in charge of that job at LEGO, so we'll see how that goes -- I'll let you know.
Meanwhile, our apartment complex has been purchased! That was unexpected. I'm not sure what this means for the rates we were quoted on going month-to-month, or signing a short-term lease renewal when our lease expires on June 24. Ian has volunteered to schlep over to the office sometime soon to talk that out.
I did a terribly small amount of container planting in the past week, just enough to remind me how much I love plants! I picked out three beauties to bring to work with me. They're so pretty that now I want more in here! I also finally got one of those big tea pot containers that I've been eyeballing forever for our porch at home; I plan to cultivate some scallions on that. Mmmm, scallions! I put those in everything like they're going out of style.
Time to shuffle off to my awesome job which I love so much!
