Have switched knitting projects temporarily to knit a blanket for the Landreth's baby shower in April. I hate to put down one project unfinished since I think that's just bad policy in general. I'm really excited about making my very first gift for a baby, however, rather than just drawing on my mother's talent or from her stash. The project is colorful and fun -- none of this boring pastels stuff for me! I'm knitting a baby blanket in six bold colors, like from the basic box of Crayolas. It's happy!
Ian continues to set the countryside on fire with work on his art portfolio. For the past few weeks, he's been working steadily on this fancy model of a gun -- high poly, low poly, and now he's working on the unwrap for eventual texturing. I write this like I have much of a clue of what it means, which very truly -- I don't. Only barely. But anyhow, it means Ian's making great progress toward getting ready to put out applications later this month, and that's very exciting!
A non-fruit-bearing plum tree in our backyard has started blossoming!
I'm thinking of changing my voter registration away from Democrat when we move next and I register locally. When I turned 18, I used to make it a point to register with third parties to support their right to exist. I did not exercise my right to actually vote, however -- very foolish of me. After the Gore/Bush election, I got so mad, I decided that I had no right to complain since I didn't vote, so maybe I should change that trend. That's when I decided to start registering Democrat. I believe that our system is so heavily dominated by the two parties, candidates in third parties really don't have too strong of a chance in general. I wanted my vote to count. I wanted to vote in the major parties' primaries. I think I sold out a little bit -- or maybe it's "being practical." I'm not sure. In any case, now I'm really frustrated with the lack of vision among the Democrats, as Emperor Palpatine would say. If the Dems aren't going to get the job done for me, why should I support them anyhow? Let alone possibly "sell out," as it were, by casting my support toward a party that doesn't entirely reflect my views anyhow?
And for those who might be new here -- let us not suppose for one moment I mean to suggest that I might register Republican. Heh. No. I was thinking maybe Green Party, or perhaps outright Socialist! It's time to do a little window shopping for a different political party, and see what's out there.
That's about all I've got for you today -- not too exciting.
