"Check, please!"

Ian has summed up this day for us: Check, please!

Our broadcast day began 1 hour before I normally get up. Watson clawed the bottoms of Ian's feet, so he jerked his legs away. Ian's motion woke up Holmes and spooked him, so he bolted... across my face. Holmes managed to take several steps off my face with his back legs, and clawed the snot out of my face with his long sharp back toenails! I woke up screaming. Ian held me and kissed my face and soothed me, and we went back to sleep. By then the cats were awake and wanted to play, so they grabbed at any elbow or foot sticking out of the covers.

While Ian was getting ready for work, I heard a cat-inspired crash in the house that I couldn't identify until much later.

Ian got in his car to discover that his iPod is effed up, and it's not currently recognizing any music files he has on there. He'll have to reformat it. He nearly got into a car accident on the way to work. A miss is a miss no matter how close, but that commute could've gone better for him.

I've spent the day out of sorts, and far less productive than I would have liked.

Around 4:00, I heard a similar crash to the one I heard this morning. It was Watson falling from between the staircase railings on the second story (again)! He appears to be uninjured, and he was even willing to play a little bit within 5 minutes of the fall. Both cats are entirely cracked out from this incident, however. Now I think that one of them may have fallen this morning, based on the noise I heard. Awhile after this afternoon's disaster, I made the mistake of trying to hold Holmes when he did not wish to be held. He pushed off my chest with those same long sharp back toenails. I have red raised claw marks about 6" long running vertically from my collar bone to my boobs.

To top it all off, I went to print out the selected recipe for tonight's foray into homemade macaroni and cheese, thinking such a comfort food might be exactly what Ian and I would like tonight. Somehow I missed that the title of this particular recipe is, "All Day Macaroni and Cheese." I missed that it's a crockpot recipe. Imagine my surprise to read the words, "Cook on low for 5-6 hours." At 4:15 in the afternoon.

Check, please!
