Hey Anon. What are some things you'd like to tell us about the place you work, but wouldn't normally post for fear of ending up adding to the unemployment rate?
The administration of my school is crazy. They're loud Southern Baptists, which are the worst kind of Baptists ever. They promote homophobia and send out anti-gay/abortion propaganda for me to send home to the parents. I throw it all out or give it to the kids to use as scrap paper
( ... )
Omg that's horrible. Where do you live? Everyday I realize I am surrounded by a bunch of close-minded dumbfucks (I honestly couldn't think of a better word) in my education classes, and it seriously worries me. I mean, I'm not saying I'm the smartest person in the world but shit, some of the stuff that comes out of their mouths is ridiculous.
I'm in the south and I work at a religious school, so I expected there to be some idiots like that running around. It's not as bad at the public schools here.
Some of my coworkers do make me want to kill myself just to get away from them. They mentioned it would be weird to have a male coworker and I said I used to work with a man in a daycare. He wasn't allowed in any diaper rooms to put the parents at ease. Here is the response I got, "I don't blame them. My aunt is a lesbian and I don't let my daughter alone with her now. It's too risky."
At least my coworker is also not a psycho religious person. We can't look at each other in meetings anymore though. We got in trouble for snickering during the fire and brimstone prayers.
I'm surprised I don't know who you are either! i apparently don't pay attention very well.
Also, that really sucks. No offense to private schools, but I don't know if I'd be able to handle working in them. Then again, public schools aren't that great. Oh, dilemmas :)
It does have major plusses. I get to teach preschool, which exists in only 8 schools here without being special ed. There aren't any standards to conform to. I can do art for the sake of learning how to cut or other skills like that, which I wouldn't be able to do in public schools.
It's just the administration that bothers me. Well, that and the low pay, but it would be higher at a different school.

Why do you work at a private school, if I may ask?
