I am sooooo ANGRY right now! My 9 year old son and his 2 friends/classmates told me that his sub THREW HIM AGAINST THE WALL TODAY! It was a man and he threw him into the wall and then pushed him again. I called the school and they said that Monday morning they would investigate and talk to all 14 kids in his class. I want him FIRED! I will be there ( Read more... )

I'd love to know what happens with this! In NJ, you don't have to have a teaching degree to sub. You don't even need more than 2 years college credits. Which I think is wrong. Don't be surprised if they won't let you be there when they talk to the other students.

I have a lot more to say about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How is your son doing after this happened to him?

Thank you for asking about Tommy. He is doing fine. He knew going to school today that this teacher wouldn't be there so it was fine. I'm sure next time he has a sub he might be a little concerned but emotionally and physically he is fine ( ... )

The sub is in his 50's from what Iunderstand and no, there was no other adult in the room. He is in a class with 5 5th graders and 12 4th graders. At the time of the incident the "all day" aide left for a field trip with the 5th graders. The afternoon aide had not gotten to the classroom yet. From what I can tell, there was a 15 to 20 minute gap where there was no other adult in the room. This morning 5 kids, including my son were interviewed by the principle and all 5 stories were basically the same. I have not talked to the sub and from what I know the school hasn't either. The principle did ask my son to come in during lunch so she could look at his shoulders to see if he was scratched or bruised (he's not ( ... )

I just spoke with my dad and he said in California you get tenure after 3 years on the job. It is hard but not impossible to fire a tenured teacher here. He said the school will likely draw this out for months if possible. But, because I called the school district, the principle is going to have to do much more about this then she probably wanted to do. In other words, I'm probably on her shit list. But I dont really care whose shit list I'm on. As long as kids, mine included, are safe from this idiot in the future, the whole damn school can hate me.
