Weekend recap:
Saturday after the storms moved through the city, it was pleasant weather outside. Mo and I went to the playground and splashed around in the puddles. Later on we grilled on the deck and relaxed.
Sunday we got the summer bug and packed up for an impromptu trip to the beach. We headed to the southside to check out 31st St Beach. All the parking spots were already taken, so mental note to go earlier next time. Merrick dropped us off and we played in the playground next to the beach while he went and parked in the neighborhood. Maurizio loved the sand and even got a little tan. The water was actually not bad considering it was 63 degrees and it was probably 73 degrees outside. Mo dipped his toes in and got wet from the waves up to his belly.
We chilled out at the house until 7pm when we walked over to West Fest. We got to see Diz and Derrick Carter playing. Maurizio was happy this year, smiling and dancing a little bit. We walked around the booth and ran into our neighbor's friends that sell jewelry. We sat with them at their booth and chatted for a bit. Then we walked over to grab some carnival food (aka funnel cakes and sausage). We wandered around the booths some more and Merrick chatted up some folks. We caught the end of Derrick Carter and I heard him mix Spastik with Michael Jackson's "Bad". Crowd went nuts of course. Maurizio was a trooper and didn't fall asleep until we were on our way home.
Tired today, but it was worth it to hang with the fam. :)
Was going to see Gracie this weekend but she couldn't swing the tickets up here to see Sista Stroke on Saturday at Smart Bar. Hopefully we'll see her (and others!) when we go to Texas in August. :)
