Another long weekend of semi-relaxation. You can't fully relax with a baby around, but he is getting quite well at sleeping through the night without stirring. Maybe we're running him ragged during the day. ;)
3rd of July, we went to the rooftop and drank some beers and watched some of the preliminary fireworks in the neighborhood.
4th of July it was rainy. Booo! We had planned to go downtown to our friend's apartment and watch the Navy Pier fireworks, but it was constant rain all day long. We grilled outside on the porch even with the rain. We took Maurizio to the school across the street to play in the rain. Of course the rain broke right before the fireworks went off and the neighborhood went crazy. I am really surprised we got Lil M to sleep by 9pm since fireworks were going off until 2am.
5th of July I took Lil M to the schoolyard which was right next to the block party that was shooting off fireworks until 2am. It was a warzone with orange "dust" and cardboard pieces strewn about from all the fireworks. I seriously think the neighborhood spent more on fireworks than the City of Chicago. While the boys napped, I went and got a mani/pedi from the local nails place. It was a much needed "me time" break. :)
After nap time, we took him back outdoors, this time to Union Park so he could play in the waterspouts there. We discovered they have family swim on Sundays, so we'll have to go let him splash around for real.
Back to a normal 5 day work week after two 4 day weeks in a row. *sigh*. That's ok because we have some visitors coming into town the next 2 weekends. ;)
