From what it sounds like, you both are pressing to be the perfect match for each other, even though it sounds like you already are. As you said, you both know you want to be together, and so knowing that should be consolation, even in those times when you need someone but don't want to betray him, because you can gain from that need the knowledge that in just a matter of time, you'll have what you need.
