In the order recommended by your bread maker's instructions, assemble the following in your machine:
1 cup water, slightly warm
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 Tbsp dry milk
2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/4 to 1/2 cup finely copped onion
1 Tbsp butter
2 tsp yeast
My method: Spray the baking pan with cooking spray. Add water.
Mix dry indredients (except the yeast). Carefully float half of the flour mixture on top of water. Add cheese and onion, then top with remaining flour mixture.
Cut butter into 4 pieces, placing 1 piece in each corner of pan.
Make a slight well in the center of the dry ingredients and add yeast.
Start machine. (At basic setting/medium crust, this takes about 3 hrs, 40 min).
Makes about a 2 lb loaf.
This makes amazing toast and or sandwiches.
It makes terrible french toast. :)
