[Translation] Como 0804 Pi - Kurosagi

Translation of an old interview with Pi from the Kurosagi days.
He gives his take on Kurosaki and on his own personality.
A very determined and hard-working person. Read the purple part ^^
To digress, I hope the upcoming Buzzer Beat will be better than Kurosagi, the cast line-up looks interesting if not deliberately scandalous XD

Kurosagi was adapted into a movie because many people enjoyed watching the drama 2 years ago. Kurosaki whom I play was the only one who survived when his father, who was cheated by a swindler, attempted a family suicide. He is someone with a dark past who becomes a swindler that only targets other swindlers (Kurosagi) for the purpose of revenge. His target this time is the bankruptcy swindler played by Takenaka Naoto. Faced with such a formidable opponent, how will he conduct himself, will he be able to fool him? I think you'll be able to enjoy the suspense as the two of them pull tricks on each other.

Even though he is getting rid of the bad guys, what Kurosaki is doing is also a crime. That's why, he walks on lost, not knowing whether what he is doing is right or wrong. I'm sure Kurosaki was very lonely and I think the only thing he could do to distract himself from that loneliness was to pursue something frantically. I think he actually wanted to have friends and someone to trust but his fear of losing them if he did was greater. He seems strong but I think he's actually a timid person. He's also very cold towards the girls who likes him. Well, other than the girls I like I interact with the others coolly, so I don't dislike that part of Kurosaki... (laugh) Looking at Kurosaki, I feel blessed to have family and many friends that I can trust.

The most difficult part of acting in this role was his relationship with Katsuragi (Yamazaki Tsutomu) who is both the great mastermind behind the swindlers who helps Kurosaki with his work and also his father's enemy. His hatred towards Katsuragi is enough to make him want to kill him but even if he killed him, he won't know what to do with his life after that and without Katsuragi, he won't get any information for his work. What's more, Katsuragi has this unique charisma that draws others to him so even as he hates Katsuragi, he half believes in him. I wanted to present Kurosaki's human side under the helpless circumstances he is in, supressing his feelings as he lives on. For the scenes with Katsuragi, I really learnt a lot from Yamazaki-san whose every word holds substance.

Even though I'm in totally different circumstances from Kurosaki, I don't usually turn on my emotions easily too. Whatever is it, when the switch is on, I'll just be on a rush with my emotions, unable to stop until something is 100% complete. For example, when I was studying for exams in high school, no matter how sleepy I was, I can't sleep unless I'm done memorizing everything necessary. I really wanted to sleep but if I quit halfway I'll regret it and I want to get full marks. For work, I want to do the tasks given to me perfectly so I'll really work hard to produce better results. I'm now in my 4th year in university so I have to attend classes too and frankly, it's so tough it makes me want to run away. But the switch is already turned on so I'll manage both my work and school until the end. Even if I take 5 years to do it, I'll definitely graduate. I think the image everyone has of me is that I'm an unenthusiastic guy but actually, I'm a very passionate guy.

Looking back, I think it's amazing fate that with 'Kurosagi', my first lead role in a drama, I got the chance to play the lead in a movie, which was what I've always wanted to do. It's a big turning point for me because I got to show a side of myself that's different from what I've done so far. I also got to meet many people because of Kurosaki and I'm thankful for that. Also, Kurosaki is a character that I've spent the longest time to working on and you'll feel a sense of solidarity with the people you spend long periods of time with, just like how it is with friends, so it is a character that I've put a lot of love into. I think I can do it better so if there's a sequel someday, I'll turn on my perfection switch.
