movie core, ACen panel, and stuff
ACen was fun, though financial matters were not, so I didn't really buy anything. Did at least get to pick up my fanart badge of Ankh I'd ordered a while ago... Henshin Panel was really fun, even with a bit of tech-mixups, and we had a decent showing of perhaps 20 or so people(for 9am Sat morning, I think it's good)
Speaking of which, due to the panel prep, I didn't really watch much of the recent stuff since I'd been watching Ultraman, so I finally watched the Movie Core with OOO and W... I thought the Begins Night was better, in terms of story. I do like that we got the Soukichi backstory with Akiko finding out more about her father, but how they handled that the assistant guy was the main baddie in that because he fell in love with Akiko-lookalike... (I'm sorry, that was a bit creepy even if they used the same actress). The library sounds to copy Phillip's lookups was pretty interesting, as was how kid-Shou found out about Soukichi. But as opposed to movies like the Begins Night and A-to-Z this wasn't as well-written, I thought.
Then on to the OOO story... my main issue? NOT ENOUGH ANKH!! I don't mean that as a fangirl-kind of thing, but seriously, if Ankh had hung around Eiji like he usually does, the story would have been over in 5 mins instead of dragging as long as it did... What was he doing anyway, bumming around on his bike all movie-segment long? I know they're like 'oh I was searching for these Cores', but still... I was very happy to see GataKiriBa combo, since it's been so long :D
Then the actual part I was looking forward to, the meeting of the two(three) Riders. I would have thought with them fighting the Yummy at the beginning of the movie, Phillip would have been like 'oh, that's a Yummy, made of Medals' but didn't really mention it. I did like the fight with the two, esp when they burrowed into the earth.
And then the BEST part of the movie for me - Ankh appears (sans Shingo-body), remarks on the power-source, Shou responds to him.... THEN freaks out because 'HEYOMGWTF IT'S A DISEMBODIED ARM AND YES HE'LL WORRY ABOUT IT!!!!' LOL Made better because Phillip's trying to calm him by pulling down his pointing hand... After that the fight was cool because it was the first time of seeing TaJaDor (at the time), and then the power from that caused W to turn into Golden Extreme Form. I was amused Eiji ended up in Brazil, oops? Very curious to see how he could get back without a passport, but I'm guessing Chiyoko helped him get back since she was there too...
