This is why you should be careful where you seek shelter for lightning -
24 June 1924 → Six men at a rock quarry south of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, sought shelter from a thunderstorm. Unfortunately, their chosen shelter contained dynamite, which was soon ignited by a nearby lightning strike. The men were killed instantly by the ensuing explosion.
(found in NWS facts)
While it's good they went for a strong shelter and not a tree or awning where you have no protection, that was not really a good place to go. We have a chance for storms today, which I am hoping for because it seems like all the rain and cool storms bypass this area.
Not much going on, though I did find out my class will only go from Tuesday til Friday afternoon, and then I'll be free the rest of the time I'll be in Lower Michigan. It's pretty hot still, and I've had to call the apt maintenance people because the AC we have is somewhat working (it's running full blast but feels like regular AC medium setting).
