neat sketches! i always draw crappy in class, haha.

and i agree with you on the gay marriage thing... i think. XD marriage is a religious thing. most religions would not agree to marrying gays.... but politics ISNT a religion. still, gay couples are citizens too and they should be allowed all the rights and priveledges as any other citizen. i like civil unions.

awesome sketches. seriously.

Civil unions have the same exact rights/privileges/etc as married couples in california. There are federal issues that they don't receive automatically, but most of these can be covered by getting an attorney. Obviously, there should be an effort to change these things, but I agree that I don't think seeking the term "marriage" is the best way.

peace out.

love the sketches! :)

and I agree with your view on prop 8, i would vote yes if gay couples could get civil unions that provided the same rights, financial cuts, or whatever as a marriage would. Besides, there are already churches that will marry gay couples y'know?
I think the whole prop 8 shouldn't even haven risen, because California was doing just fine before.
It's a weird thing indeed.
oh and totally voting yes on prop 2! things like that need to be more talked about.

Whoa, I like that woman's hair...

I'd have to disagree with you on Prop. 8... kind of. I don't think that other people have a right to say whether a couple is allowed to marry or not. It's their lives so they should be able to make the decision themselves. However, I know that a lot of gay couples would probably just have a civil union anyway so it would be good to give those people the same benefits as well. But I think that if a gay couple wants to be married, for whatever reason, they should be allowed to and outsiders have no right to say no. But then again I don't even live in California and it's already illegal for gay people to marry in my state, so I guess it doesn't really matter what I think...

I agree that no one, especially the government, has the right to say whether a couple is allowed to marry or not.
But that's not the issue I'm pointing out.

I mean, I know that by voting YES on 8, I guess I'm technically supporting the whole "gvt says no to gay marriage"...but I mean to vote yes in light that there needs to be a better resolution to this.

The government shouldn't care this much that gay people want to be committed to each other.

I can see your point and I wasn't saying you were necessarily supporting the government. Have you thought about writing to your government and sharing your ideas about civil union benefits? I'm sure other people have already written about it and the idea could always use some more voice and support.

Supporting the government as in... supporting their negative attitudes towards gay marriage... :/

You don't know me well at all, I actually started to watch your journal for your sketching updates, but I was wondering if I could ask you a question before I jump the gun here.

So, you're voting Yes on Prop 8 because Marriage is a religious union?

Yes, I believe marriage is a religious union.
But people who don't believe in a god get married all the time. Why can't gay couples? - is kind of what I'm saying.

Okay, still slightly confused. Are you saying that you don't want Same-Sex Marriage because marriage is a religious union and that religion and homosexuality can't go hand in hand at times?

I really don't want to put words in your mouth or anything and I'm just trying to see what side you're coming from! I hope you're not offended with me asking questions! ^^;

lol, questions are fine! Really, there's nothing to be offended over a discussion.

And yes, I believe religion and homosexuality does not go together; at least all the religions I'm aware of (may or may not be the whole picture). Now, I'm not a crazy christian or anything. I hardly have religious views of my own, even though I've gone to church all my life. So, I'm saying that as a bystander AND as someone who knows why the crazy christians say the things they do.

I agree. Besides, it is not the government's job to involve itself in religion and personal life to begin with. There are two sides to marriage, the religious side and the beaurocratic side. If the gay society wants to create a gay-supporting religion that conducts marriage, then the government has no right to say gays can't be married. The government also has no right to say that churches that are against such things should allow gay marriages.

The government should also let anyone legally partner anyone they wish. That's what the proposition SHOULD be. The currently proposition should not even be allowed to exist, it's ridiculous and unconstitutional.
