Hi, bambiblue directed me to your LJ because apparently you are in the SEB program as well? She suggested we could glean info from each When was your intake? I started in October.

Heya! My intake was in October too, I'm taking it in Toronto and we're handing in our business plan on the 12th. How about you? How did you like the course so far?

Oh, ours was due the 19th of December! So far it was pretty good, barring a few people who I wanted to HULK SMASH. Overall though, I definitely can't complain! We also had a problem with the payments as they went from Fed->Prov governments.

Oh! Yeah you know I think we officially started the course in November now that I think about it. I can not keep track of dates anymore. I think they called me to let me know I was in it in October.

I had the same problem with the payments, though I am still collecting EI so mine is an extra pain in the ass. I can't wait til my EI runs out at the end of this month and it's all sent in one simple package!

I think there's a couple of people in every course that need a good beating ;)

One of the women in my class ended up calling about it, and basically what happened was that a> the contact person quit and they forgot to tell us we had a new one, and b> they changed our pay dates and never told us.

Yeah, I was finished EI when I started SEB, so I just started with the bi-weekly payment. So you stay on EI til it runs out, and then the SEB payments start? How odd!

I got called in September (one week after my EI ran out!) and we started in October. I remember my first day at the Service Canada meeting where the guy listed off all the crazy shit people pull (ie: business trip vs. vacation) and I remember thinking to myself, "Who the hell would do that?" Sure enough, people have already tried it -- and one guy would show up to the courses, sign in, and then leave. Jeebus. Is yours run by the Y?

Oi people are so stupid. And then they wonder why funding for these programs gets cut! Cause idiots like that guy who just shows up and then leaves ruins it for everyone else.

Anyways, yeah, I'm stuck doing EI through the mail (ugh, I hate it, my payments are all over the place) and I get top up SEB money as well. When it switched over to the provincial thing, since I was on a split week, my top up money is a week late. Ugh. Oh well, it could be much worse!

Ours is run by a local career counselling centre. It's offered at four different locations in Toronto, which I hope are more intensive than the location I'm taking it at. I found the courses to be very haphazardly thrown together, with not enough information or worksheets and my business coach is a total eeediot who barely gives me any feedback. Luckily there's another coach who's picking up his slack who is awesome.

Oh yeah, what's your business idea? Haha most important question.

Oooh your business sounds fabulous! Great concept, I love the name too! The only thing that I thought might work better is your slogan being "for your family, for your community, for your planet" only because I read somewhere about how using you and your makes your client more comfortable with your product. But that's just what popped to mind. Great site btw!

My business idea is a photography studio by the name of Beau Monde Photography (the site is not quite up yet though). Specializing in pin-up and boudoir photography and offering women the self esteem and confidence they deserve to have through a quality photoshoot. Annnnd I'll end my shpeil there haha ( ... )

OOO I am going to add you too :D

That is an awesome idea for a business. Have you seen this site yet? It's pretty freaking fantastic, I think you will like it. I am really into vintage styles (although, had to ditch a few comms in lj due to eejits who think it's their personal fan club *cough* but I digress). I think a lot of women would love that, especially in the form of a gift certificate. I think that will do really well! I even love the shpiel!

I hope no news is good news, because I am in full advertising mode right now, and can't really stop to re-do it. I think he just hasn't looked at them yet, though. I figure next week or the week after I will get TEH CALLZ o D00m! Hehe. Anyhow, if you feel like reading about my SEB experiences, they are all tagged here starting at the bottom.

Yeah I'd heard of her before but hadn't seen her site yet. That is a pretty sweet site! Except I wish you could turn the sound off but that's just the flash snob in me haha. Thanks for sending me it, I definitely need to know as much as I can about the current big pinup models ( ... )

I totally would, just not yet. I want to build up a client base before they think I am just a part of a link ring or something. I would love to see your friend's site though -- for my own personal needs :D

Good luck with the business plan! It's a lot of work, but it is pretty good if you keep on track!
